I didn't cry when Bambi's mother died... but I cried when HAL was turned off. |
So, I wanted to try Tantra. The reviews seem good, and what the hey, it's free to try. First attempt: I registered for an account and got to the Download page. Easy so far. Then I was presented with several links: a manual patch, a Huge Forge map, a Huge Forge Map Full Patch, and a Torrent file. Say whaaaa? The first link, which I would assume was what you should use to start the game for the first time (it's that Human Factors degree getting in the way again), wasn't. Launching the only executable brought up a cryptic error message. Second attempt: The largest of the files, which is supposedly a map. I imagine that "map" is the secret word for "the file you need to start playing." Took an hour plus, but at least that's better than Thang. This created even more files, including a new executable, "Tantrum.exe." Launching this brought up an alert saying that the game must nbe launched with "Tantra.exe," which was nowhere to be found. Third attempt: Another game. If the host doesn't want you playing it, there's not much you can do. |
