That said, I'm willing to say I can sum up a lot more that they both have in common! |

Ugh i don t see the point but the bottom line to me is this. I don t dislike AOC in general, hell i might even try it out after i hear more post release. The whole predetermined time to siege to me is a terrible idea. This is me and i don t get excited about it in the least. I want to be in the middle of something and have to rush to a keep etc to defend it if needed. I understand some will say it keeps the 2 am guilds taking a keep while most are asleep, but who cares. Get your guild/alliance together and take it back. To me the bottom line of both these games is the pvp/rvr and i dont want a guild telling me when i can pvpp etc. I want spontaneous, out of the blue, oh shit gotta drop everything to defend type. There thats all i can say :) |

Graphical innovation is probably the only thing it has going for it..and that doesn't say much for innovation. I'm not crapping on AoC...im just saying all those touting oh its so innovative and new and fresh have limited experience in life or very limited memory spans. Its a hardcore game and thats not new either. WAR and AoC are both taking the things that the players its trying to attract like and evolving those things into their games. You'll never see an MMO thats so new so brand spanking new that it doesn't incorporate all the things that make gamers like other games. This is how the game industry works...for people to not understand that or to crap on it .. and then dream up some fantasy idea of whats innovative just shows how subjective innovation really is. Its only new and innovative if you've never experienced it yourself its why I've stopped looking at "innovation' as a key factor and instead look for games that promote or atleast work with gameplay styles that I prefer. I dont like heavy guild raiding reliance to enjoy a game so AoC is out for me. Does that make AoC crap? No...its just not my cup of tea.
btw someone mentioned the ToK as innovation..its not really Lord of the Rings had it first...but the ToK takes that idea and evolves it into this extremely massive piece of content. Thats what makes the ToK so frigging cool. |

ToK - Tomb of Knowledge Basically, it is a giant book that keeps track of pretty much everything you do and rewards you as you go. It keeps tabs on the amount of NPC's you kill, other players you kill, creatures you kill, places you explore and have been, etc. and can unlock items, upgrades, and titles because of this. For example, if you die 100,000 times you get a really embarrassing title (you can turn titles off) or kill a bunch of dwarves you become "dwarf killer" and maybe get an item that allows you to do more damage against dwarves. |
