That's what they say. And you have a right to believe that. Just like I have a right to believe the AoC Developers. See...it's that easy. *shrugs*

I think you failed to read this little tidbit:

WarCry Editor's Note: This Age of Conan Editorial is in response to a March 28th developer journal from Darkfall Producer Tasos Flambouras, published here on WarCry. Flambouras never mentions Age of Conan in his article.

Weezer's Disclaimer: The thoughts and opinions expressed in this editorial are my own and are not representative of Funcom or any other company or enterprise affiliated or associated with them.

Are you trying to imply a Funcom dev made this article? It certainly seems so.

Actually...that only speaks for the contents of the two companies wallets.

You think any company that -can- pull off much advertising would -not- do it? Come on, be serious. And...where exactly is FC "coddling" the Fanbase? *blinks* I'm actually a little confused what you mean with that.

They constantly release screenshots and promise about balance and shit because the Fanbase is complaining.

And it does speak a lot about the game.  It is always easier to sell a good product, than convince people to buy a crappy one.  Right now, AoC is convincing you to buy it (pre-order lawl), whereas Darkfall is secure in the fact that they will have a good game which will sell itself.

Even the fact that the AoC devs/community feel the need to constantly try and put DFO down shows how worried they are about their success.

GF AoC, wasn't close.

Advertising your product is sign of a weak product? Man...do you live on the same planet as I do? I mean...do you fail to see all the ads for products out there? Is the new BMW a crappy car because you see ads everywhere? Is the new Sony TV a crappy one because they keep advertising it? Come on, that's really some backwards logic right there.

Darkfall is not ready to be advertised. At least that's what I think. That's not to say I think it will be a crappy game, or that it won't release, but from what we see, the game is not ready to be advertised on any broader level and that's all there is to it.

As for the community....I point again to the glasshouse in which you are sitting. The DF community does the same thing to AoC.

Cheers.

And how many Rolls Royce commercials do you see?  A company that uses a Service Quality business plan does not rely on advertisement.  They let their high quality product to do the talking for them.  Hence, your "Darkfall is not ready" argument is completely false.

How many advertisements did you see for Warcraft: Orcs and Humans before that came out?  But then again, I guess that game wasn't very successful...

As for the community... How many DFO community members have made posts on Warcry bashing AoC?  How many DFO developers have openly denounced AoC?

AoC is afraid of DFO.  That simple.

You're comparing DF to a Rolls Royce?? Oh please....

OK, let me tell you why RR doesn#t advertise on a broad scale. Because they don't reach their customers with that. RR's are reserved for those who can afford them. No need to advertise there. Are you saying DF will be only affordable by a select few?

And as for Warcraft...please do not compare games released in that time with games today. It was a completely different market situation. Games were not as popular as they are these days. Any comparison is null and void.

As for the community. I repeatedly stated that both sides of the fence act irrational from time to time. DF as well as AoC. I would like to see that stop. But first, I would like to see people acknowledging that it's not a one-sided issue. if you take the time, you find enough posts of DF community denouncing the AoC Community and even insulting them openly. Just look for one of DF's biggest supporters here.

Lets try looking at this from a different perspective real quick.  I've read the statements made by the AoC dev and I read the Developer Journal by Tasos.

Those of you saying Tasos never actually mentions AoC are correct, but somehow you know he was taking jabs at AoC right? Ok I think we're of that understanding.  Why do some of you think he was taking jabs at AoC? Other than the AoC dev statements, those would more or less be a cause and not the actual jabs.

Of course this was sanctioned by Funcom, who are you trying to fool? They even had the editorial up for a short time on the Age of Conan main website. Then they for some reason removed it.=)

This editorial is pure fear. And a very low self-esteem in your own product.

Is that your opinion or fact?

If it's fact how do you know? I can understand venting if that's your honest opinion but please don't try and pass off your opinions as fact.

I was just pointing out what was very clearly written at the beginning of the article.  Why are you getting so defensive?
