Do or do not. There is no try.

Saw this coming. It'll be worth it if they do everything right.

Given the amount of investment into AoC and WAR, I see no reason not to try it out at least.  I mean try it out live.  Beta is not conclusive.  $50 for a chance to try it out, and as a token support to investors willing to put in $millions to offer us one more choice in the world of MMOs.

As for which one to retain, well, we will see after launch.  If they both look nice, keeping 2 subs up concurrently is not too expensive.  Personally I am slightly in favour of WAR, given my extreme affection for DAoC.  But, well, only time will tell.

Delays are not a big issue.  I would rather give them another year to prepare a good launch.  EQ2 launched a year too early and the game becomes enjoyable only 1 year after launch.  So why bother rush.

AOC will not be released with Border Kingdoms or siege in the game for at least 3 months after  release so really you will be playing a PVE  game with consensual dueling.

Got any proof? no?

Didnt realise PvP on the Open PvP server was consensual

mind if I add you to the list of people to laugh at, you can be #2 next to martie.

PS. i'll still be trying WAR when it releases with my guild :)

Hence why we <3 you Avery. It is hard to completely ignore topics like this no matter how much we want to because you see so many false things being stated.

One scenario I see happening is that AoC launches as currently scheduled, has a bad launch, and then WAR has more intrest then ever. EAMythic may be betting on a bad launch for AoC.

You mean like AO had a horible launch which made the launch of DAoC look so much smoother? I doubt that AoC launch could be as bad as AO launch was but it is interesting that the last time these 2 companies released games it was AO a few months ahead of DAoC.

Oh, planning on skipping AoC, preordered CE WAR today.

It might not be only game mechanics that influence someone's decision, it could be the setting or art style.   AoC is going for a gritty barbarian, ancient human kingdom setting.   WAR is going for an over-the-top dark fantasy setting.

There are some people who refuse to touch WoW simply because they can't stand looking at the Blizzard's art style.  I like the style but I can see how someone who doesn't like it might not want to pay money to stare at it for hours on end.

I think the world settings of both games will be interesting, but I've read REH's Conan stories and I always have personal notions when I do that.   The games seldom match those notions when I play.   I was the same way with LotRO.    But that might not bother other people and they'll be fine with AoC.

For me, Warhammer is more like a RPG setting rather than a single author's vision, so maybe that's why I don't mind seeing yet another version of it in a MMORPG.

Right now Age of Conan is a turd on a stick.

Perhaps they can make it work in a couple of months, but I have serious doubts.

I am definitely going to give AoC a go now. I wasn't going to if WAR came out in Q2, but hey it's good news for Funcom

Seems like AoC is going to be the better MMORPG anyway.

When they were first announced I felt Warhammer was going to be the better game but as time moves on it seems like Warhammer is getting worse and worse...  I was really excited about the game when it was first announced but as these guys reveal more and more about it, the less it appeals to me.

Most of the folks on this forum seem to be in denial about Warhammer - if you're thinking War is going to be a great PvP game think again - PvEers have got their wallets out and their name is LEGION.  Mark me and listen well:  "PvP will be pushed to the back burners as Warhammer progresses.  The majority of content will be PvE orientated."

If AoC gets a lot of praise from reviewers and players I'll give it a try.
