Well..I beg to differ...because if the anomalies I have shown on my blog are any indication of how the game is progressing, I just do not understand how they keep people around...it just feels like a mess still!

Sorry

I admit I have not played Gu4 yet, but all those issues I listed where around over the last several months.  They are not game breaking by themselves, but they sure did add up quickly.  Even with occulation on/off or any number of other UI tweaks.

People who like the game grow used to overlooking and ignoring the games issues.  It seems acceptable to have to dig around UI tweaks and INI files to improve performance.  To dig around video card settings, etc.  The game requires more tolerance and hoop jumping just to get the game functional than any other game I can think of and it really doesn't offer that much in return except potential of one day being great.

I see no flashing or floating textures, beheaded npcs, no performance issues etc.  All quests could be completed I've done, no single bug there.

The only thing I had was a CTD twice since two months (had that too in LOTRO though).

Yea...maybe check my blog today...

Simple - n - Complex

For a little background on the issues I have seen graphically....with screenies...

Later

Your blog is pretty unimpressive it is just one endless rip...  I'm not sure why you care to even do it since from the very start you were in it to find issues and it was geared up to be a rip...

I can't name one game out that I can't go through a rip it up with a little effort.   Hell after playing VG for like a year and taking a break I went to wow first and I ran into a crap load of wow bugs and that's probably as good as it gets.  I'm playing eq2 and maybe I'll go start my own blog about the troubles I've had in eq2...

Most of the stuff is either trivial or well known.  The only thing I saw that was odd was the screen with all the frozen mobs.  That one is a new one on me.  Having played hundreds and maybe 1000s of hours I've never seen that so grats on finding something truely unique.

So he shouldn't talk about something because it is a well known bug or what you consider a trivial issue?  I'm not taking a stance on the blog one way or another, but nothing wrong with posting your initial impressions if they are true.

Openedge1, I have no problem with your blog (yes, I've read through it off and on all day now, and even bookmarked it). I don't even have any real disagreements with you other then that it really should be acknowledged that in it's current state Vanguard is ten fold better then a year ago. I have 3 characters I'm working on right now, each on a different continent so i can explore as much as possible. I still see the occasaional floating tree or untargetable mob but nothing near what you're claiming to see. I've also still seen a few broken quest lines, but there are so many in this game now that a handful is absolutely no impedence to leveling or gratification. I outlevel quests faster then I can do them there are so many to choose from. I'm not saying the game is perfect, I'm just saying it's great.

And on a side note, I can play VG for hours with no graphical issues or disconnects, yet EQ2 will after a few hours everytime no matter how my graphics are set up.

This is funny, as I can play EQ2 (mind you after finagling, and working with sliders as well...) for hours with no issues...after removing my 8800GT..

Yet, I have to remove my 2900pro to play VG. so, same diff?

Believe me, my purpose was not to "rip" the game apart either..it was a challenge based on a very popular blog (noted in my blog if you read far enough)  from Tipa. It all boiled down to how the game is for a new person coming in. I am sorry that it bothers you ethion that my blog does not match how YOU feel about the game. The blog does show what I am running into playing as a new person for the first time...and so far, all of my playtime has been dealing with issues, graphical glitches, frame rate problems, etc. It is hard to write about a games playability when I am working to fix all of the problems..

I have made a concerted effort to stay in the game for 30 days...and believe me that is a major goal, as right now the game deserves to be thrown in the trash bin from what I have seen. It is always noted how a game grabs you within its first few levels, and if this is what I have to look forward to, it is not going to be much fun trying to see if Vanguard has made any improvements...as right now..I see...none!

But, I will not give up. And sorry...can't make up those screenshots...

Thanks

Ofcourse anyone can, granted that (for example) there is also issues with EQ2 that is not that hard to find. Equall oppertunities; Would it be that hard with the same mindset go and blog equally about EQ2. Would it be hard to actually not intentionally look for the faults?

My perception so far is that openedge moved from bashing and finding faults in LOTRO to finding them in VG.

While the game hitches, nobody says it is not, one also knows that it stops after the area is loaded.
What is true and what is halftrue. Saying the game hitch or saying the game hitch initially but is better after the loading is done.

You argue hard facts with personal taste and invalidate real posters  game experience with your hopes and dreams. Sorry, you are not only bashing you are a walking flame war. You are trying to start a fight with the same old "I have a dream!! That this is a perfect game... No really, it is! So your experiences are all wrong!" Every post in here is valid except yours. So please, stop the flame wars and just enjoy the game you love so dearly.

It should be thrown with great force"

God made women because mens brains are broken.

Well I can say that Vanguards performance has gotten so much better since launch - its crazy.   I use to have to tweak my system down to run around in cities like Targanor and Ahgram.  Now I don't have to.  Granted I have a decent gaming rig with 8800gts and fast mobo, cpu and some fast ram, but even my gaming rig is not as powerful as some others and I still see that the game has definitely improved.   To say it hasn't is just silly.

Yes the game still has hitching in some areas, and chunking is still a bit of an issue, and there are still bugs and broken quest but the game overall is way way better then it was 4 months ago and as for how much better since launch...not sure that can be measured.   It's just a completely different game.
