I couldn't agree more, all my memories of gaming come from console RPGs there is something about it that just catches your attention and sucks you into the story, the only game I remember doing that to me on PC was Diablo, NWN, and KOTOR, other than that it really didn't phase me.

Wonder what it is, is it that you can relax anyway you fit and you can focus more on the details then sitting at a desk and using a keyboard? Or if the issue of never experiencing slow downs or lag because each console title is not built beyond what the system can handle.

I think it was more of the game companies just tossing out incomplete games (not broken, just lacking) knowing they can release an expansion every now and then to add to the game (while adding to thier wallets) Console games didnt have that luxury. They either scored or they lost, so the developers knew they had only 1 shot to get it right. Even if a PC game released in horrible condition, it still sold well because its all they had and PC gamers knew that if the devs didnt fix it, someone in the community would figure out a fix. And thats the best thing about the PC gaming community, there are quite a few people who can pickup where the devs dropped the ball.

in pc gaming when there's a new expansion you only have to download patch and save it unlike in consoles you have to buy another one again..

A console is awesome and doesn't need upgrades at all (unless a sequal of it comes into the market) Sadly that makes them rather limited if you don't chip them and such..

Still, a computer is much easier to upgrade and maximize performance.

I love console games, especially NES and N64 and such. But if you would compare Console and pc, the pc has much more to give than a Console.

so you're saying all expansions on PC's are free?  Since when?

anyway, I just downloaded the Mass Effect expansion on my 360 last week.  Cost 400 points which is about $5

so ya you can just download expansions on consoles much like a PC.  Whether or not theyre free is relies soley on the game distributer, just like a PC

game patches are also downloadable.  when you load a game that has a patch available, the game automatically detects this and prompts you for download.. for free.

C'mon people - you all know the true answer of this debate... It has been know since the times before Mullets or Tall Striped Socks!  I am not sure why you even start this kind of thread.

It is undeniable, without a doubt the 1st thing to come to mind :
Of course, you don't understand the HATE, because you think console gamers = PC games, and this is false.

No fanboy reply:
PC games have more config options, better responsiveness, more customice options, modability.. etc. So console games feel _dumbed down_ Why would I care If console gamers get games that will feel dumbed down to me? because some gamers will be designed for the 'minimal common denominator'. My PC has 4 GB of RAM. The XBox has only 521 MB. So a game released for PC and XBox will have small maps, to able the XBox to allocate all the map in memory. I will get *NERFED* maps because the XBox has soo lite memory. Controls? exactly that problem. On a PC menus can be more complex, because we have a mouse. On the console, you have a endless serie of menus and submenus, and submenus submenus of submenus. and after all this crap, the config options are tow 'Gore ON/OFF' 'Subtitles ON/OFF'. WTF?. On a PC, If you disllike bloom, you can disable it, If you want a different FOV setting, you can change this. And the menu is two clicks away.
You do understand that not every pc game has 4 GB of ram right? Even if a game is designed for pc only, it'll be optimized for lower amounts. I'd guess that most of the PC games right now are still optimized for 1 GB of memory, so the rest of the memory would still do squat. Any decent console dev that wants to use large maps would use streaming anyway, which means that there is no real limit to the size.

To give you an example, this is running at the ps2. Every place that you see in it is reachable and only a small part of a world that can be explored without encountering any loading at all. In case you don't know, the ps2 only has 32 mb memory, and this includes video ram.

Second of all, what games have that many menus? Any game that is decently designed won't have that. The config options imo is also moot. The reason why the pc devs add the config options is not to make it possible for you to turn off bloom if you don't like it, it is just to make it possible for people to play the game on older systems.

All the standardization of consoles bring around huge advantages to the devs though. When a developer designs a console game, they don't have to take different pc configs into account. This not only saves them a lot of time debugging different configurations, it also means that every player gets exactly what they design.

I reject your reality and substitute my own. -Adam Savage from Mythbusters

I just came across this today and I thought it was a pretty funny discussion.  I don't really want to go read all the pages so I'll just put my little thought here.

This has been a discussion I've had with a friend of mine a few times.  I think it just depends on the game and the person.  MMO's are best on the computer (maybe after playing an MMO on the 360 I'll change my mind, but so far thats my thought).  FPS games are best on the computer.  I liked Halo better on the pc then on the Xbox because of the controls.  WIth the mouse and keyboard you're able to be more precise than a controller, and instead of pressing a button to get a list of your weapons and inventory, you can just press a number for each weapon and usually I for inventory.  RTS games are better on the computer because of the mouse, its easier to click on thing to build and such than have to use the controller.

FPS games are ok on the console and if its not on the PC as well I'll play it on my Xbox no problem, I just usually miss the control I have with the mouse and keyboard.  I think car games are better on the console, granted PC's have steering wheels too, but its just easier to unplug a controller and plug in the steering wheel, than it is to keep the steering wheel pluged in and have to set it aside in an area that it won't get broken near the computer.  Fighting games are usually better on the console, its easier to button mash on a console than a PC.  Flight games are better on a console too because its not bad to use the controller to fly.

Now PC's are easier for people to cheat on, you just run a program for a FPS or a bot program or hack for an MMO.  Its harder to cheat on a console, I know its not impossable, hearing about what Xbox is doing to cheaters but its harder and more expensive and I think easier to track down.  To cheat on a console (from what I know) you have to buy hardware hacks, and its cost money and you have to install them.  For a PC the hacks are software, and easy to get a hold of for a cheap amount.  Its easier for MS to find hacks on the Xbox than it is for say Blizzard to find hackers and botters on WoW.

You do have to upgrade or buy a new computer every couple years to keep current (some people like to do it every 6 mo to a year).  A console you'll have for 5+ years and their relativly cheaper than a PC.  If their weren't games I liked to play that are only on the computer, I would buy a cheap computer every 3-4 years and just buy a new Xbox (and maybe a WII) every time a new on
