WAR (Warhammer Online)

 Having no official forums make sense business wise anyway since they don't have to listen to AoC hypers on their forums or retards who keep saying 'WAR is a clone'

They told us there would be no official forums two years ago, the people should have been alienated already. He just reaffirmed there would be no official forums.

Let this dead horse be ffs, it's old news.  DAoC had no official forums, Mythic don't do official forums so live with it.  If you don't want to buy the game because of that so be it, I hope you find a game to your liking and a forum to troll to your hearts content.  Peace.

Well DAoC never had official forums.

However, I think Mark kinda misses the entire ah forum environment.  By that I mean.. I've never seen a forum that didn't have a "bad community" to some extent.  People used to argue about ATI/Nvidia or AMD/Intel... or music etc etc

Having a forum doesn't create a certain type of environment.

It just requires you to pay people.. to ban people.

So in the end.. personally I can see where no Oboards is a good idea.   It cuts costs.

However, they should have some place where they post upcoming things.. and that they are aware of certain issues.  (camelot herald does that to a degree and has the friday grab bag).

Not going to be buying WAR but I'll just say its a personal decision.  I just don't see this as that big of an issue.

What if i wasnt following the game two years ago?

What if I decide to play the game 1 year after release for the very first time in hearing about it. I install the game have some difficulty, I try to look at the homepage, I find a link to the herald, the knowledge base there doesnt help me, where to know?

I keep looking I find somewhere where the answers or help is - why should I as the customer have to run around the internet for help? Would it make me feel better in posting my concern directly? sure thing.

If he wants the wow numbers like mbj hopes for then only 20% of the future game population know this. Then factor in out of those who played Daoc and knows what the situation is.

The highest grossing games all have official forums.

Remember when MJB flipped out on the VN boards??? That guys CANNOT take crititism and its too funny but bad the warhammer community has to suffer.

How many people played Daoc??? How many will play warhammer?? Can you honestly say the set up shown with Daoc will provide enough support to the casual newcommer?

Tell that to the other 80% of potential wow number the game wants.

Im a casual player, one thing the game makes attractive to me - I dont want casual support from some 3rd party.

The main point of your argument seems to be based on casual customers wanting forums.

But I don't think you really have an understanding of what a casual actually is.

Most casuals don't use forums. If its not because they don't even know about them, its because they don't have the time to use them.

A casual has limited amount of time in a day or week to even be involved in a game. They are going to spend that playing the game, not wasting time on a forum filled with trolls. If they actually spent enough time on a forum to make a forum worth it, they would no longer be casuals. And if they didn't, then they know that a forum serves them no purpose.

Dead horse imo. There are places to give bug feedback if there is a problem. The only other reason why a forum would be necessary would be to whine. And I'm not interested in reading whines.

half of you who are against the idea are seriously coming across as fan boys like the same thing happend with vanguard and ow look at that game now we all know why they didnt want any forums to stop people finding out the state the game was in and had insanely censored fan sites.

yep. i get the same vibe. from this situation. kinda reminds me of the alien vs. predator movie. they wouldn't allow anyone to get advance copies of it. didn't want the terrible reviews out before they could get it to market and generate some cash.
