In an optimal raid setup, wich classes are needed the most?

Edit:

Looking for both needed the most as in by number (1 MT, 3 Wizzies, I Ranger, ectra), and by hardest to find (I can never find a Bard to flesh out my DPS group).  TY

Typical raid setup: Bold is optimal

Group 1:

MT (guard or zerker usually, pally is ok, sk is alright, but not optimal), Defiler (or mystic), Warden (less optimal fury), Templar, Dirge, Coercer (can be a swash or assassin if no coercer)

Group 2:

OT (Zerker or Pally best, can be any), Mystic, Warden (or fury), Warlock (or Swash, or Wizard), Dirge, Illusionist.

Group 3: Mage

Troubadore, Illusionist, Fury, Mix and match any of Conjy, Necro, Wizard, Warlock

Group 4: Dps

Troubadore, Inquisitor, Brigand, Ranger, Assassin, basically whoever is leftover that can do damage or heal, although usually 8 healers is your limit.

Coercer is the least played class period. They are evil, for one thing, and they are hard to play. While they are one of the most powerful classes, it takes patience, and a really decent player to stay on top with this class.

Next in line would probably be Defiler. Again, they are evil, and they are misunderstood. They're not very good soloers, even for a good player, and their heals don't seem as good as the other healers. In actuality, they're in a lot of ways better depending on the situation.

Bards, while not really in short supply, are always welcome to raids. A lot of bards just don't raid, yet they probably have the most powerful raid tools of anyone.

Wardens are played enough, can usually find one, but they are also very good to have in any raid. Most healers are welcome in raid situations except Furies. Not that Furies are bad, because they are fine as a class, but there are so many. There are probably as many Furies as other healers put together.

Paladins, Conjy's, Wizards, Necros, and Warlocks will be pretty plentiful and not a good choice unless you are well known, or have good friends.

Swashies, Brigs, Assassins, and Rangers will be plentiful, but a lot don't raid. If you have good friends, or are quick on a pick up raid invite, you'll be welcome to any raid.

If you go with Guardian or Zerker, you better be good. I'm not talking, yeah, I can hit buttons and taunt. I'm talking about you can hold agro against 60k dps, you can turn a huge raid mob on a dime, and you can stay alive long enough to kill it. Tanks are plentiful, usually, but GOOD tanks are hard to find. If you can make a name for yourself, and people see that you're really good at your job, as a tank, you can go, do, and have anything you want, period.

I was wondering if this still held true as to which class was played the most.

Working on downloading/installing the trial and I could play any class really, but if I actually end up liking the game I would like to be able to group semi often.

about that trial

it does not do the game justice - wish they would revise it

anyhow,

your 1st character in the Trial  is restricted to playing fae

ignore or delete your 1st character and you can play almost any race

Welcome Home

Hey Hey

Any of the Utility Class are in high demand.  Troub/Dirge and Illy/coercer , The way most raids are set up You will have a Guardian MT and either another Guardian or a Paladin ST.  Most guilds do not have many tanks. It also seems the Shadow Kinghts have no place in raids.  Healers will needed however there seems to be a glutony of Fury's  becouse of there DPS abilty alot of ppl like to play them.. Defilers and Mystics are much more in demand.   If you are looking for the indivudal needs of End game raid forces i would recomend you go to EQ2 Flames and see what class the guilds are looking for, there is a bit of the flavor of the month but that is in all games.

Welcome Home

For someone just starting I’d recommend an Inquisitor.  They healers so they are desirable for raids and groups, they solo very well if you go with a melee AA spec and they are one of the least played healer classes but their buffs are considered essential to a melee DPS group.

Warden (melee AA spec) is another pretty good choice, they a lot cheaper to outfit then an inquisitor.  The downside is that there are a lot more of them around and there are some cases where it’s a little harder to be main healer in a group because of their heal over time nature.
