If u think u are having fun Then U ARE! |
Like i was saying.. ive looked around on the offical forums and such and couldnt find a answer.. If i was to make a Barbarian .. would a Aquilonian make just a good of a barbarian as a Chimmerian? Just curious because i kinda like the roman history and i wanted to try a barbarian .. But i dont want to play a gimp version of a barbarian heh.. Any info would be great..

I think most of this is sort of already written into the Lore as "understood" or, a thing that realistically would be different, but in game terms - doesn't. What I mean is, some classes aren't available to the player depending ont heir race. In a realistic manner, this would mean that that class could exist from that race, but would suck at it. In game terms... the fact that you can't play the class as a certain race, means that doing so would be like giving you a gimped version of the class. So, in short - no... you won't be gimped either way you play. If you were, then that would mean they would have two or three different interpretations of each class. That is pointless to design... and would cause more problems that it would create fun factor. Hope that helps :) |

A little basicly the short of it.. Aquilonians and Chimmeran can both be barbarians.. So would one race be "better" at that class or both equal but different look... |

Indeed. To make it more clear, the only difference between the races are the available classes. For example, only an Aquilonian can be a Priest of Mitra. But the only difference between a Stygian ranger and an Aquilonian ranger will be the looks.
While I love the race distinctions of Shadowbane, and it leads to a lot of different builds of all types, a new player is going to be swamped with the complexity or choose wrongly. I know my first Shadowbane character was totally gimp and worthless, because I had no idea what I was doing. It would be better to have character complexity come later, after the new player has at least gotten their feet wet. Hopefully the feat system and skill allocation will allow for a wide range of complexity later on in AoC. While I doubt it will reach Shadowbane levels in complexity, hopefully it's more complex than WoW. |

I agree. Your very first choices should not have a deep impact on your future development, well, except the class you choose.

Good thread, I was wondering the same thing also. Where as in other games a "racial ability" would set the 2 apart, it sounds like in AoC it won't matter other than the appearance. |

Originally posted by Traviztythats the only thing that matters really from the races. the appearance at the start, they have different armors but when u get to a higher lvl and venture out of ur homeland u will find other armors.
also, dont u think that the gods they worship matters to some ppl? |
