Maybe the reason i havent really gotten burned out on any game is the limited time in which i play and the number of games that i do play in.  In any case I have yet to get burned out in LOTRO, and ima lifer here too, I just take the world at my own leisure, go explore in the places i want, and have fun along the way

I've just paid for another month of playtime but after 3 hours of playing I'm already tired of it. I'm gonna keep on playing because my money is gone already but now I'm 100% certain I will not ever play this game again after the month is over. I'll just wait for Age of Conan.

And like stated before: I love the game, the graphics and everything around it, but it just didn't 'click' like WoW did for me when I first started playing it in 2006.

We have read the books, and put our faith into Turbine making something special from Tolkiens lore, but instead created a world that is more dry and boring than any MMO on the planet.......and made a mockery of the Tolkien legend...

Especially for experienced MMO vets....

So sad.   After all that was said of making sure to separate opinions from fact.  I guess that goes out the window on this forum ehh?

So, how do you explain this experienced MMO vet having fun in LoTRo?

How do you explain the number of people playing the "more dry and boring than any MMO"?

How do you explain the trajectory of the subscribers from that chart site you love so well for LoTRo?

How do you explain the media adulations?

I to like the OP want to like LOTRO. I recently cancelled my subscription like many. I lost interest after a couple month but stay because of my love of Tolkien and the fantastic art work in the game. I also have a hard time putting my finger on just why it falls flat for me. Maybe if I was newer to MMOs I would like it more but after 9 years of playing MMOs I guess I am looking for more. I think the lack of sandbox feel in LoTRO is the main reason I lost interest.

I bought this game about 2 months ago, cost me  80$ for the game and a 30day game card which isnt too bad i guess considering i thought i would have a good time exploring, fighting etc. This game did not click with me at all, one of the slowest mmo's ive played i dont mean the lvling i mean the getting around, i gave it another go a couple of weeks back with my friend and after about 20 mins i stood up, logged off and put the cd case in a draw and said 'lets go have some fun'. most of that 20 mins playing was just running around trying to find out what the hell i had to do, the skills are in no way interesting, the fighting style was slow and boring, the running was so slow, area's too vast with hardly any mobs and the quests felt like a drag. sure my character was only lvl 8 and 10 and some would say 'omg noob u gotta play longer to get somewhere' but why would i want to bore myself so that i might, maybe, possibly have fun in the long run. too much of a gamble with time that could be spent doing things i enjoy. I have played mmo's for about 3.5 years now and this would be borderline 'a worst experience' game. and ive tried some horrible f2p games. i guess the thing i resented and was dissapointed by the most was that i spent 80$ just to get the game. 80$ down the drain i guess... this has gotta be the most depressing post ever written  i hope some people get some enjoyment flaming the crap out of me, i know i would!

Not intended as flaming but yes i think its your own fault. Why? because you could just have tried the trial period to find that out and save yourself 80$

However I agree, LOTRO is a big money sink even with dropped prices it is now clear what we have to expect: an Expansion for Moria, for Rohan, for ...

I dont like games where i have to buy expansion every 6-12 months. Covering this with some free updates doesnt count.

Other things you said are true too.

oh yeah it was definetly my fault (no sarcasm intended) i tried to download the game off gamearena (I live in australia which is a country that still has no fiber optics or in some places have got it but telstra is too busy making large amounts of money off copper connections),  but it was corrupt, i only have 12GB a month to spend so i thought to heck with it. it was a reckless decision fueled by the want for a new interesting game after quitting all other games played. my bad fo sho

Arent all MMO's like that? to have sold expansions every year or faster?

On Topic:

Lotro is a good game, if you have no fun playing it, dont play it. Simple. I love it.

They just announced Mines of Moria soon, that should be a great boost.  You are right, I want to see Moria, I want to see Roahn, Isengard, Mordor, the white city.
