Blizzard has announced that they have partnered with EPIC Weapons to create replicas of Frostmourne, the weapon which helped corrupt Prince Arthas on the road to becoming the Lich King.

The legendary rune blade Frostmourne was immortalized in Warcraft III, in which it was taken up by Prince Arthas Menethil, corrupting him and leading to his transformation into the Lich King. We've partnered with EPIC Weapons to create a limited edition replica of the blade in all its horrific glory. This artifact of ancient evil is over 47" long and 12.5" wide, weighing a massive 16 lbs., and is now available for pre-order. For more information, please visit the Frostmourne replica site.

Something like $360.00 USDor so.

I kind of want one even though I'm not really a WoW player for the most part. But that is a bit steep. Still, they did a beautiful job.

There are swords similiar to this which are far far far less expensive and arguably better quality.

I buy a lot of replicas. I just paid 400 dollars for an Indiana Jones hat, hah, so in my searchings I've seen some awesome fantasy swords for 90 to 190. But never THAT much, as this WoW one is going for. 200+ dollars of that is Name alone.

CBSwords.com, for instance, sells a lot of fantasy swords for very cheap.

On the site it says it's $429.00. They have over 500 pre-ordered already and the number is rising. With  the first 99 of them to be in a collector's auction, so they will get more for those.

It says purchase price $379.00

But heck, at either price... GIVE ME 5! (kidding, it's very expensive).

Ah, you're right. Just pre-ordering one straight out is $379. If you register to try and win one of the 99 collector's swords through auction it is $429. The number they are tracking is for those registered for the auction.

Not sure it's a good idea to give wow players a real sword.

Id rather buy a katana than that sword ,now that's a real sword.Plus as someone mentioned,it's a bad idea to give WoW players any shard objects ... even blunt objects.Well anyway ,im realy not surprised that the money hungry blizzard released this, they make +15mil a MONTH ,even with all the server costs etc. they should still have 5mil per month and they still need to squeeze every once of money they can from WoW.Other games wich make way way way less money then WoW release free expansions.

But blizzard screws WoW playerbase again by forcing them to buy expansions that offer the same stuff but with a different skin and even more useless time sink.

A 28' blade on a 47' sword isn't great.  The blade is only 47% of the length of the sword.  That's a very short blade for a two handed sword.  A claymore is about 55' long with only 13' for the handle and 42' for the blade.  A typical long sword is about 36' long with 6' for the handle and 29' for the blade.  A bastard sword would have a handle length of about 9-10' and a blade length of about 36'.  So the sword has the handle of a two handed sword and the blade almost the length of a standard long sword.  It's strange to me that they wouldn't make the blade longer.  It is only stainless steel instead of a better material, so it would only work as an ornamental piece which makes it less appealing to me.

Ian Faith: Nigel gave me a drawing that said 18 inches. Now, whether or not he knows the difference between feet and inches is not my problem. I do what I'm told.
David St. Hubbins: But you're not as confused as him are you. I mean, it's not your job to be as confused as Nigel.

Here here.  For the same amount of money you can buy a battle-ready Cold Steel katana sword.

Marto makes some very nice swords. I bought the white Tachis many years ago and am happy with my purchase. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

They're not squeezing money out of people, despite your rant, people actually like WoW.  As hard as it is to imagine, not everyone has the same likes and dislikes as you.

People spend far more on even sillier things, WoW is a hobby for a lot of people.  Some people like to spend money on their hobbies.

Blizzard isn't 'screwing' anyone.  We have a choice to pay to play the game, nobody is forcing us at gun point.  The world does not revolve around you.

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

I agree... if we were required to play Warcrack for some reason, then yes, everyone could realistically complain about getting screwed.

FYI... Frostmourne isnt a bloody 2 handed sword, arthas wields it using only his right hand and holds the reins in the left hand.

so no, the sword isnt short, its actually normal.

"This artifact of ancient evil is over 47" long and 12.5" wide, weighing a massive 16 lbs., and is now available for pre-order. For more information. ". I've got that, seems they sell the weapon in the whole world.

Firstly, thanks for editing the ' to ".  Forgot to hold down shift.  Secondly, thanks for clarifying that it's supposed to be a one handed sword.  A 16 lb, one handed sword with a handle that is only 9" shorter than the blade is a bit much.  The width of the blade is just under half the length of the blade.   It weighs just under 3 times as much as a typical claymore.  Try holding a 16lb sword and swinging it with one hand.  Even with two hands you'd be hard pressed to make it work efficiently.  It's a flawed design, even if it is just ornamental.  Just remember, if you get it and try to hang it on your wall, get something that can support it's massive weight.

You guys do realize that this is a WoW souvenir, that it doesn't really matter what size it is and that it is not going to be going into any battles.

Right?

Right?

I know it's not supposed to be battle ready, but it should at least be realistic.
