Well I dont know much about MEO, but I was just looking at previous posts and found this: "Actually, any of the player races (Men, Elves, Hobbits, and Dwarves) can become corrupt as you play them, both by your actions and external influences. If you wish to play an evil hobbit (et al), you'll have that option."
God! That would rock... Having the ability to become an evil hobbit... So, do you guys think Turbine would put in the features that were supposed to be in MEO? in LOTRO...
Anyway. would some one like to enlighten me about this whole Middle Earth Online thing? Was it the same thing, and they just named it Lord of the Rings Online? Or was it some other game based in Middle Earth, that was taken over by Turbine? |

and how do you propose that they make you evil? a title above your name? red eyes? pale skin? if you want to be evil the closest thing you will get is /rp on and then go find some people to play with.
giving you a new title saying you are evil is pointless, making NPCS attack you because you are evil is just ignorant, and all out pvp server is just dumb, because people will gank people for stupid reasons saying they are "evil"
artemis entriri never went around killing random people just cause he was "evil" |

MEO was FULL of pure WIN. LotRO is full of pure MEH. |

I'm just saying, there's no real way to make an evil character unless you actually played Orcs and had a realm vs realm situation, which in this case is the freeps vs creeps, and I think both are pointless but that's just me, I can't stand MMO pvp because it can not and never will be balanced unless everyone is the same., which they are not. |

no, I play mmo's to fight dragons and gods, i play FPS games to test my skill vs other humans skill, not my class/race/armor/uberleetraidgear vs someone elses
MMO pvp is finding which class has the most advantage over all others, or the best chance to win, there really isn't a challenge, and even that matters little, because in the end it all turns into a zergfest in all MMO pvp games. |

To answer the OP, MEO became LOTRO when Turbine took over the project from Vivendi.
Sorry just thought i'd drop that one in! |

Originally posted by elondor yeah i agree, i play fps' when i feel the need to test my twitchiness against anothers twitchiness too, but mmo pvp tests my knowledge of my class and abilities and ability to use them to the greatest effect, against another persons "skills" in the same area, i dont like gear being the determining factor, and i like a group setting, ala daoc |

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic |
PvP would be great in mmos if they made the objectives like an RTS game. WoW tried doing this but was craptastic, for example Arathi Basin. And it should be that they have to do those objectives to win so people would do them instead just go zerg on their generals which should not even be in the battlefield, for example the snowy battleground in WoW. |

Originally posted by CaedesAstrum Here's my view on PvP in most mmorpgs regarding balance, and it is one of the reasons I tend to not like PvP. Balance is impossible, which by itself is controllable in the right setting (grouping for realm vs.realm for example ). However, PvPers themselves make balance a nightmare issue if the game is also intended to have PvE. Why? Because you have people who choose to be a medic or preist ( which should not be really suited for comparable solo combat ability, compared to a soldier/warrior for example ) but demand that they have the same ability to PvP effectively against combat type characters.
If game devs would put their foot down and say "Hey, you can do massive damage in PvP as a soldier/warrior one on one, but if you are a priest/medic, you will need to be in a team setting, as medics/proests are "support" professions". | |
