The only time you run out of chances is when you stop taking them. |
From the official forums: The staff AoC/JoL and users of the forum JoL had the possibility of putting about fifteen questions to Pharamond. Here are his answers. Thanks to him. 8/ About the melee combat, the combo system has been modified in order to make it's adaptation smoother or easier or whatever. However, there are players who seems to prefer the older system, less directed towards a "newbie-friendly" concept and harder to master. What can you say about it ? Do you plan to propose both the systems ? On the Official Forums here: http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=61476

too many bs questions 10) spellweaving, they didn't answer 13) functional at release? gave me hope they will actually release the game even if its not perfect 16) release date still may? I'd rather them just not answer this question since they've said "yes" and either did not know or lied about it.. so I'd rather not hear them say anything about the release date staying the same.. that way if they do delay... again.. its not just "yep, typical fc".. say yes yes yes and then "oh we found 8 months worth of work we didn't know was there, sorries!".. its something new "hey, they didn't answer it and then they delayed.. something different! yay".. of course I'd rather them just release the game, but saying "yes the release date will stick" just reminds me of past ignorance/lies |

I liked the info and the vid. I can barely wait for launch day. * Life is not black or white, it's shades of grey. But, at it's best/worst, it hints at 32bit color. -Me (a.k.a. RuthlessTimes) * I do not need to know how to make a better game than you. I just need to know how to cancel my subscription. -Antarious(a slight misquote but the sentiment remains) |

I have just watched it again, and I have to add that even though I normally turn off game music very quickly in all the games I play, AoC soundtrack really impresses me!

Avery i have to admit i love your passion for the game but i myself just can t get into this game no matter what i watch. The pvp which is big to me turns me off so much i don t want to get into it too much but guild vs guild games are terrible to me :) to each their own though. |

This is one of the better reads so far.
It has a few not-so-nice parts like forced guilding for crafter endgame and forced motivation by Gaute - Psycholigist - Gauger. The risc-reward balance is not always what is good. But nothing to worry for me. I just hope i can find a fun guild. It is very good to hear that there is as much crafter content then adventurer content. The ideas about kiting and stamina usage while moving are ace. Anyone else spilled his coffee when reading that evem beta testers camp noobs at the revive points ? Haha, i think beta is much overrated :) |

All my posts are within NDA and I would never break it, I stick to public material. Do you have a favourite footie team? Arsenal / Spurs? like to talk about them? same thing here mate, so long as they are good I dont care what goes on in the dressing room before kick off / release date. Oh and theres a sticky at the top of the forum here with what i saw when i played the game and in general at the community event, many things were not in beta that I saw ;) I posted Q&A interview, you can have your opinion and your negative reservations by all means. There are plenty of gameplay videos out there with real footage, apart from that the readers and posters here are just actually pretty decent and are capable of making their own mind up. Im just post some interesting news / developments and its a fan made video of pre-released footage for fans - I didn't pass it off as anything else. Your assuming. Your also notice its you and only five pessimistic, prejudgemental people who share your opinions. The mass populous are eagerly awaiting to find out for themeselves what the deal is, and Im confident that a finished product at release will give them satisfaction in a pretty current stale state of affairs genre.

Well without sounding like a complete arse kisser & theres nothing i hate more, just want to says thanks Avery, i been following & reading your posts quitely for long time now and they are very informative and nice to know i only have to look at one place to get what i need on teh status of the game. I have one question & its proberly the only worry i have comming from Vangurd & thats the size of the game , do you have any scales in comparison to other established MMO's, i think i remeber it was compared to Eq style zones and varied sizes but im not sure, im just scared that if its like anything like diabolical LOTR & how linear that is it would be a killer.
Cheers

Originally posted by zazz Hi there, Its been said the game world should be more or less 185 Square Miles, there was some comparison to WoW size by some other people that a pre BC WoW was around 80 Square miles. Zones will be various sizes from small to large (few kilometres X few kilometres). Tortage the starting island ~ levels 1-20 ish is just that an Island, its been said in some interviews of past its quite linear in its approach to aid new people to the game and get them used to it, although it will have some good content. Tortage was being worked upon to make it a little less linear (widening beaches and where you can go, tweaking here and there at the community event in January we saw too) . The rest of the gameworld from there on out is a mixture of zone size, yes similar to EQ. The tradeskills area's from what I saw at the community event were pretty large to be honest, but its all about the content contained and thats still being worked upon. Another 6 man instance Santum of the Burning Souls, which I played in one group at the community event (as did Stradden (jon wood editor here) ) took my group bout 90 mins to cross over, and that was rushed. In the FAQ on official site they hope to have around 30 or so of these zones (mixture in size) at launch. There are plans already underway for an expansion, not only in content but for even more support for RP'rs and other content. The game has been in developement for any longer game due out this year, and I hope it will show at launch. The lore world is massive in itself and offers plenty of diversity and approaches for content expansion as currently the game is based mainly around the 3 race countries, Aquilonian, Cimmerian and Stygian. The lore world itself contains 26 other countries, some you will travel thru in game anyway but not all.

Originally posted by Cway214Well, i do care about breaches. It is always good to hear about things some think are bad.
BUT... posting wildcard and placeholder complaints is useless. What is "sad" or "poor" or "crap" ? It is very easy to say that a game is crap. But no game out there is completely crap and everyone has his own likes and dislikes. Vanguard had a lot of breaches and a lot of complaints after release. The funny thing is that i have quit the game for my own reasons. Reasons no one else mentioned in his complaints or NDA breaches. So dear beta test breakers, if you feel like warning the people then try to be a bit more specific. Placeholder and wildcards make your breaches worthless. You broke the NDA allready, so give some details at least. I am not calling for breaches, but without a minimum of detail your posts are worthless trolldom. |
