EVE Online

I love all the concepts of Eve. They have one of the best sandbox games around. Their devs are also very talented in what they do. I love the fantasy rpg setting though and dislike sci-fi or I would be playing Eve. When are the Eve Devs going to make a fantasy rpg MMORPG? We can dream right?

They're working on a World of Darkness MMO with White Wolf, who they combined with a while ago. I think it has something to do with vampires and werewolves but unfortunately I don't know much more beyond that... Even still, I've liked all of CCP's game(s) so far, and White Wolf sounds great too, so we'll see where that goes...

I really would like to learn more about it but unfortunately they havn't said much...

Currently going through withdrawal from Eve with this long patch down time. I swear, it's like after playing Eve, all other MMOs just don't compare. I can't even compel myself to go  play another MMO until Eve comes back up because...well...the genre totally sucks except for Eve.

I, too, am eagerly awaiting more information for Worlds of Darkness. I can't imagine what they intend to do with that IP. Nothing short of genius, I'm sure.

Darkfall is the fantasy EvE....if it ever comes out...

i think maybe Stargate.   But that's sci fi right? well I'm not sure how pvp it will be but the idea of stargates in eve jumping you from system to system could pretty much just be directly copied in Stargate but your jumping your avatars from planet to planet instead so maybe it could have the larger server population and such.   As far as pvp goes though I kind of doubt it since they wouldn't want to but a bad taste in the mouths of the less pvp inclined stargate fans.  Would be pretty cool if you would fight for control of different worlds and had like 5000 different worlds like eve has systems.

I'm excited about Stargate because the mechanics Eve has with systems and jumping between them is a pretty nice way for a large server pop and travel times and such and Stargate could use the same mechanics.  I've only watched maybe 4 hours total of Stargate tv too so it's not like i'm a fan, although I'm growing to like it.  Still probably guns and grenades and stuff, but at least you'd be dudes and not ships if that's what you're getting at by wishing for a fantasy eve.

anyway, if you can stand looking at anime-style cute graphics, then i would recommend mabinogi, it is similar to eve in some ways but the setting is fantasy. be warned tho it is still a korean grindfest.

Actually is ome way EVE is not that different from fantasy games....but still its it opposite.

But u can see ur ship as ur avatar. U can choose to be tank....rogue...nuker...healer (just as in fantasy games). U can upgrade hull...shields ...weapons (as i all fantasy games).

Ive played most fantasy games there is and every time I log EVE I can discover things that reminds me oft the traditional fantasy games.

But sure...there will never be elfs and dwarves...and thanks god for that! Sooooo keep away from the game for the sci-fi lovers......u have a way greaternumber of games to choose from..=)

Actually Eve reminds me alot more of Car Wars than fantasy games..... anyone remember car wars....?

I fail to see how a game that is a "korean grindfest [with] anime-style cute graphics" can be similar to Eve in more ways than the fact that it, too, is an online game.

They said the world of darkness mmorpg will be based on the similar type of sandbox concept as eve. It'll be immense once it's done.
