As unbelievable as this sounds, with the current status of SOE moving to a different department, this very well could be true.

Japanese don't take shit, if it's not good it's axed and I can defiantly see LEC wanting to pull the plug on SWG if it isn't changed, there name is stuck in it they will have this bad reputation associated with SWG forever and the quicker they get rid of it the quicker everyone will forget about it.

Now as far as EQ1 goes, it's far to usable I dunno about that, sure Matrix I can see and maybe Warner Bros contract is up with SOE and it will dive under as well. Anything is possible with this new merge that is sure, it's ran under a whole different scheme,, business is business and money is money.

I wouldn't be all that shocked to tell you the truth.

If you had the money and franchise IP that LA holds, who would you go with for a new MMO? Obvious answer: Blizzard. So sure, yet another rumor about pre-CU servers etc etc. But long term, it simply makes commercial sense that SW:G will be toast sooner or later so that it does not dilute LA's online brand when they try again in the MMO market. And try again they will, after all WoW is printing money, they will still want a slice of the pie.
The basic point is that the Star Wars franchise has always been about merchandising, and money. There is no way they can be making anything out of SW:G now given the empty servers. It's simple logic - if someone makes a toy that doesn't sell, get someone else to make a better toy and sell it. They will, and SW:G will either limp along forgotten or, more likely, have its IP license withdrawn - they would have included performance clauses and warranties in there for sure, or a flat time-frame (e.g. 5 years).
Sooner or later time will definitely be up for SW:G.

How many posts have you made saying it was really LA behind the NGE? Followed up with nothing. For the fact that SOE is notorious for misleading its customers.  It launched an expansion 2 days before the release of the NGE knowing good and well that the expansion was not compatible with the NGE.   They had to back peddle really fast and offer refunds because the threat of a lawsuit loomed over their heads in a California Court for pulling such a move on its customers.

 

Would SOE offer rewards and then pull the plug?  In a heart beat!

This isn't the first time rumors of SOE shutting down a game(s) have came up. 

The rumor is correct, its only wrong in the date...

Somewere in the Future, SOE will shut down SWG and I can even say that Blizzard will shut down WoW

  I doubt that's true, I have 2 account in SWG my guild members have 3 and 4 each.  We are older players so money is not an issue ,We are having fun in SWG collecting badges, We have a big entertainer event coming to our Cantina  next month Oct 18 2008, comedy act and it's playing all servers that day,We have each have entertainers ,jedi ,bounty hunters, commandos,all level 90 ,we buy all the rare pictures in game and have them displayed in our city.
   If you don't like SWG live , the dead game lives ,and is now on beta in the Emu open source community ,like the private wow servers started.

  I like alot of the new controls and things from the new game over the old ones. I've gotten over losing two years of grinds, my stormtrooper pets and old friends. But yah I was pissed at the time . And I do test the dead game in Emu TC.
