Maybe all those other games but Not EQ1. There is a far amount of people still playing EQ1 and devoted to EQ1. EQ1 isnt going anywhere any time soon. |

This thread fails on so many levels....
IF he had said "SWG SHUT DOWN!"...hey, I could at least toss the notion around. If he said "SWG AND MATRIX SHUT DOWN"...I'd still be willing to play with the ideal a little. Even planetside....but EQ1 still brings in the dough. Unless something major has changed in that game that I am unaware of...it still has plenty thousand fans devoted to it.
Of course, I suppose on some distant plane of thought this could all be possible. I guess there IS a slim chance that MAYBE SOE decided to cut costs and knife most of its floundering games...I am not sure how EQ1 fits in that, but I'm no master of corporate policy either. We had a factory in my town close down even though it made record production for the business. It would then stand to reason that there has to be some teeny chance that other corporate holdings could do similar things given the proper mix of ingredients.

Here is my advice to the OP... Rumors are cool.. people love anything to do with "pre-cu" and the flames that follow it around. However, when you make the 2.0 version of this post... it should be this... SOE pulling the plug on SWG, Planetside and MxO. It might enter the realm of something people can really "believe" at that point. You might want to research (as best anyone can) the subscriber numbers in EQ1.. compared to EQ2. EQ1 isn't going away anytime soon(tm). MxO and Planetside could at least make sense in that headline. |

If you beleive this you really should re-evaluate the sites you visit. and if its true i will play WoW for 6 months.....considering how much i hate wow (no offense to those who enjoy it, just not my cup of tea) thats a big deal!

i seriously doubt it, thats the reason for the station pass to have a diversity of games under one sub, one thing i give soe credit for is they dont pull the plugs on there playerbase like electronic arts does. they may change there mmo's sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse, but in the end isnt thAt what mmo's are about a game that never ends and is always changing? Hell if i wanted to play a game that never changed i would throw a disk in the ps or xbox. playing eq2 and two worlds |

Has anyone here ever seen EQMac? Being a Mac user I've had the pleasure of trying out that game. They stopped updating it AT ALL several years ago, yet they still run that server. I can't remember the last xpack for it, but it couldn't have been more than 1 or 2 after PoP. They've happily taken money from those people for years without giving them even a single patch to fix bugs. Do you really think they're going to can a game that has probably 20x the users of EQMac? SWG will only die when they loose the contract with Lucas, and so long as they continue to pay the licensing fees to Lucas, why would it get cancelled? |
