I even play on a PVE server but everyones obsessed with Arena and BG's its disgusting. I fail at PVP. I've practiced and spent many hours getting better but still nothing close to a lot of players out there.. Where do you go to escape it? Do RP servers have this same problem? I Just want a good community where people aren't elitist assholes and gear whores. |

The PvP areas can be a bit of an eliteist area when you are playing solo, but as with everything there are good and bad people and it is just that the idiots tend to shout the loudest. If you want the PvP element but without the idiots then 'community' is the key as you would be better off joining a PvP guild with the same views as yourself. If this doesn't appeal, then just start your own guild and build the community that you want to see in the game instead :) |

Sorry, but that is just crap! Every MMO, every school, every workplace, every club, every forum, well pretty much anywhere you go in the world you will find idiots and elitists. I happen to have a good group of players alongside me in WoW, they are people i have 'decided' to play alongside as they have the same general outlook and attitudes and that way i can avoid the idiots and enjoy my game. |

Every human has a feeling of being better than others, it's just our nature. Some of us just express it more. Everywhere you go, there will be people who are stupid, crazy, mean, ignorant, and shy, there is no escaping it. You might as well save your money and stay on your server. |

To live free is worth dying for. |
I hate the WoW community as a whole. The PvP goobers are just a tad more annoying then the rest. |

Even if WAR doesn't succeed straight away, it's possible it could become a cult hit and grow like EVE online has |

Everyone is an elitist, and everyone always thinks they are better than "those guys over there." It's all a matter of degrees. Find some people you can tolerate and get along with, and play with them. Don't ever think you can block the entire community outside of your little clique though, because it doesn't work. There are several reasons for this which relate back to sociology and I won't go into detail, but I can assure you that "avoiding the idiots" doesn't work. |

Originally posted by Exavus PVP is a pretty major part of every server in WoW, partly because the PVP loot can be easier to obtain than PVE raid sets. If you really want to escape that, you might try a more PVE oriented game like Everquest 2, Lotro, or Vanguard. However, you'll still run into the occasional elitist asshole or gear whore in those games, as well. |

Originally posted by Exavus If you find a guild that runs pve content you might find that escape. I know a lot of people who PvP all the time, but I don't really care to. I have players that feel the same, and we run other content that makes us better at PvE. If we happen upon a guildy who is PvP geared, they often suck pretty hard at PvE. I don't mind that, and like that they stay in AV most of the time. |

Hmmm, pretty broad definition of Elitist you are throwing around there! So by your definition, anyone that decides to spend time with a group of like minded people, like say, friends or work collegues is an Elitist? Do i believe that i belong to a Select and favoured group - No! Anyone can join my guild as long as they are polite and don't beg (only two rules in my guild). Do i refuse to help or talk to anyone who is not a member of my guild - No! Do i think that my guild deserves favoured treatment because we are intellectually superior, richer or have a higher social status than others in the game - No! We are just a bunch of guys/gals who like helping each other out and enjoying the game. Do i think that someone running around shouting "Noob, Noob, Noob" at a player that does not have the same gear as him is a bit of an idiot - Yes i do, which is not elitist, it is just a pretty obvious fact. Just because i decide not to spend time with people who have a different view of how the game should be played does not make me an elitist, it just means that i don't annoy them with my different views either. |

Originally posted by Exavus I play on a RP server these days, and have played on every other type of server prior to that. PvP attitudes are the same no matter what kind of server you go on because ever since Arena came out, it s promoted a attitude of trash talk and peacock strutting. WoW's community isn't a very good one to begin with, blame what you like, general maturity due to age, modern internetism, whatever, but Arena has aggravated that considerably. The really sad thing is how badly broken the entire arena mechanic is, for instance, I know several people on my server from both factions who belong to teams that lose on purpose. They just do a day's worth of dailies, and form up a new team every week, they all have entire sets of S3 gear minus that which a personal rating is required for. Others literaly buy their ratings by signing on to successful t | |
