WAR (Warhammer Online)

Personally, I wasn't impressed with Crysis at all. It looked nice and detailed, but with how boring the game was, it was hard to fully enjoy it.

As this topic haven't really engaged me I haven't made any comment about this so far. However I now felt it was time to just drop by and leave a little comment. So here we go.

From what I've seen so far on these forums and the various topics about graphics it seems like there is two categories of pictures.]

• The ones that don't look very good, these seems to the most common ones. These are the ones that I get slightly put off when seeing, but I still stick to my original statement that it's the gameplay.
• The ones that look quite good, these seems to be the more uncommon ones and I only see them in topics about graphics. The pictures got nice lightning, isn't very pixelated and looks quite good actually.

So what does this have to do with anything? Well as it is now I suppose the newer people who haven't been around checking out WAR for so long go to WAR's page and see these crappy pictures and think "Thats bloody awful!". They then go and make a topic here and get flamed and some people post some pictures that look good in return.

I saw some comment around these forums (probably this topic) that the pictures so far don't have lightning effects and are from beta, meaning that the pictures released aren't from the finished game. Now if this is correct, and it seems like it is so to me, then I wonder why do Mythic do this? It's obvious that this is making lots of people who were considering buying the game, reconsider and not buy it.

Mythic have before, at least in my opinion, proved that they got a strange view on advertising; so far they've released mostly videos to show off RvR for press and so, meaning they haven't showed the full potential of RvR. If this is true then I'm happy because that means PvP and RvR will be awesome, but for Mythic it's a terrible decision.

So if what I've mentioned above is true then I wonder what are Mythic doing!? You could think of it in two ways; either RvR and graphics will be as we see them now or RvR and graphics will be better, but Mythic has proved that they aren't the best to show off the good sides of their game. I personally don't think Mythic is as stupid as they seem from the conclusions I've made here, yet it seems like they are.

Someone could clear some things up here because to me this seems very strange and stupid from a company, whose main job in the end is to make money.

Exactly...I don`t understand Mythic PR neither.There's Barnett who is always over hyping the game"We can't beat the Beatles so we going to be Led Zepplin" then they post  a crappy VOTM in January(even if they said that this is not a real RvR).It was more Oasis than Led Zep to my taste I see it rather normal that some people are asking questions about the /artworks/graphics.I want to know if they want people who has no idea who they are and what is Warhammer to believe that the end product will be crap?

Tbh I have to look at the graphics while playing so they are a really important part for me. If I don't find a character I think looks kool and if I don't like the look of the world or feel like the animations arn't smooth enough then that's a real big downer for me. So seeing as the graphics are what you see then obviously they are a big deal and people are going to carea bout them. People get technical mixed up with artistic and to me if the art is soooo bad I can't feel attached to my character and can't play the game.

Most the comments I see on sites that matter like IGN and Gamesport and Gametrailers etc etc.... the sites where the target mass audience is are things like "looks crap" or "looks like WOW" or "animations look poor" etc etc. 

Personally I think that from watching some vids on youtube and seeing the screen shots that the graphics for war are better than most games out now. Yes it is done is a style that resembles the war table top game but that is to be expected. War is the one game that I am truely dying to play. I am bored with all the other games on the market atm. And I too look at graphics when selecting games because I want my char to look cool as well, and the war chars that I have seen amaze me to say the least. But that is just one older gamers thoughts on it since I started back in the day with uo maybe thats just me lol

You wait for Open & Release and then come tell me if you think the graphics are crap.   If your dumb enough to go by player reviews off of beta screen shots then to be honest I'm more than happy not to have you on any server I play on.

The graphics of this game do put me off, regardless of how high resolution they can go, just the basic look is bad. Of coarse that doesn't mean it will fail. I don't plan on playing it until there's a free trial though.
