I had been looking for a great MMO ever since leaving EQII, which IMO was one of the best out there. I tried Vanguard Tabula Rasa and a few other similar games but could not find what I was looking for. Finally I found Pirates of the Burning Sea. I have been playing for a couple weeks now and all I can say is that this is the best game out there that I have played in awhile. Furthremore, it has only been out about a month so it is only going to get cleaner and better. Pirates of the Burning Sea is all about creating goods and selling them at strategic locations around the game world. It has a similar economy to Eve but obviously period related. The players craft EVERYTHING. Stemming from the economy are the ships. There are many different types used for different things. Merchant ships, naval vessels, pirate ships, scouts, Ships of the Line and many more. I am a freetrader in the game and I have already gotten a good company going. I create Iron related products and I am totally verticle from the raw materials resources to advanced smelted and forged products. It is really exciting to see a hole in the economy across the map and going and filling that hole with your products and watching the gold roll in. Beyond the economy, fighting on the sea is challenging and fun. It is very easy to learn but takes a long time to master. PVP is another element to this game, but if that is something you are not into it can be avoided. Another form of fighting is sword fighting. There are different schools of trainig that you can master for your character and you can even use pistols that lay waste to opponents. Grouping is a breeze in this game and there is a lot of solo and group content as well. This is very fun and addictive. I highly recomend it, but be aware this is not a point and click mindless WoW grind. This is a thinking game that requires making choices and taking risks. Learning how to play the game and using and creating strategies to get ahead are key. Just like the real world, there are real consequences for actions including loss of faction, losing all of your cargo to a pirate or even losing your ship. It makes the game truely exciting to play!
