To the OP (krinkled): What's your definition of casual and carebear? Seems like different people mean different things when uttering those words, so it's hard to give you an estimated guess of an assessment (as much as can be given for any game in development). |

Casual and carebear for me means that playing 5 hours a week and mostly leeching in AV and arenas gives you most of the highest quality gear ingame... Wow is becoming a retarded 5 y old carebear casual gamers mmo...
If AOC is casual and carebear also ofc im not going to play it... So i hope there will be different mmos for various type of gamers..if they all go the wow way...man...it will really suck... I mean there are gamers that actually like and want to play a game that is hard, needs loads of gameplay time to get imba loot....casuals get casual loot or go play wow...harcore gamers get hardcore loot...thats how it should be... |

The Truth Hurts. |
So bascially what you're saying is, that you should be rewarded, for not having any job, no social life, nor any friends, but 18 hours a day, to sit infront of your computer, and play? Seriously, If you're calling casuals carebears, then you must fit the group "No Lifers" perfectly. |

This is kind of related to the general topic, but... There's not going to be TRUE open PvP like Ultima Online had, where you could attack any player at any time. There were no races, everyone was human and could be attacked anywhere outside of the safety of town. Yes there were PKs, but they were outlawed and killed upon sight if they came close to the town. That's what kind of PvP AOC should have, and it made for interesting roleplay as well because you had bounty hunters and detectives and such. Anyone remember that?
Well what I'm saying is AOC PvP should be more ruthless but not unfair...

In any case it looks like Conan is going to be something in the middle as far as penalties. There are also different types of servers coming as well.

Originally posted by Hansei You sir, are an idiot. How many times do the AoC devs have to say it. They are going after the WoW player base. This game will be very WoWish because they want the WoW market. If they don't make it like WoW (i.e. easy to play easy to learn) they'll have another 100k subscriber game on their hands. They are a company and they don't care about what he community wants. They care about what their shareholders want and like it or not, that is revenue on par with WoW. If all they cared about was making a hard core pvp game that was hard to play they would have released it two years ago. Everything, and I mean everything, they are doing now is to make it play easy. You name the new game coming up and, like it or not, it will resemble WoW. AoC = WoW. WAR = WoW. LOTRO = WOW. They all = WoW for a very important reason. It takes $50-$100 million dollars to make these gamees and if they don't make it like WoW they don't feel they have snowballs chance in hell of paying back their investors.

To the op, what a lamer!!! Seriously, carebears are those who dont like pvp and ruin the original pvp ideas of games. Being a casual player doesnt make u a carebear, it just means u actually have a life..some people would love to spend all day playing a game, but unfortunately we must work to survive...
You probably couldnt even handle a real hardcore game (old school uo, when all ur gear gets looted and u cry)

I don't know if it is our not cause everyone says something different, but he said "casual housewifes", so what, whoooh lets go say he's pathetic and weak now. Lol i don't know who, but someone said he shouldn't call wow a carebear game cause if thats all he's played and hasn't played shadowbane or some others, then he doesn't know what he's talking about. I havn't played either but to me it sounds like your calling wow really really carebear, cause shadowbane and another one are so much more hardcore....thats exactly what he said....he stopped playing it because Its really carebear. i don't understand what you mean then. |
