Come on, Openedge.

Reread my post.. especially the part highlighted in RED.

You're making the hitching problem to be much more than it actually is.  I know... it's something you can exaggerate to make the game look bad, but it's not working.

If you read on in those posts you mentioned.. most of the community is NOT experiencing the hitching.

Come on dude... let's not try to stretch the truth or make things out to be bigger problems than they actually are.  We all know you hate Turbine and LOTRO for not making the game *you* wanted.  I'll never understand why you insist on trashing a game that you don't like.  Picking on performance issues with LOTRO when EQ2 still has one of the most unoptimized game engines around after three years is really grabbing at straws.

Yet...Zero hitching issues in EQ2...still after almost 7 months...

Yes, the EQ2 engine is not perfect...I never said it was...but, it does run way better on my system than LOTRO ever did. So does Oblivion, The Witcher, and even Vanguard...(yes, it crashes...but, it does not hitch...which says a lot)

Again, I stated this is an issue I have experienced, and have proof to back it up...as what has been stated here from the LOTRO players is strictly "their word"...with zero proof. And really, my proof is for the OP, and not to appease the LOTRO lovers...

But, I digress...your word is better than my proof...and I apologize...back to playing a game that is more fun and runs way better...EQ2

Wait...so your precious EQ2's engine is not perfect, yet you expect LOTRO's to be?  There are no perfect engines out there maximized for ever person's personal computer.  So what is your overall point, because it does not run optimal on your computer that makes it inferior in some way.  Yet it running perfectly on max settings on mine does not make a difference?

Also, you think it says something good for a game that it crashes rather than just slow for a second in the FPS department? WTF?  I have never seen anyone state crashing as a positive in comparison to anything.  That is like saying "This car is good, yeah it does stall on me in the middle of the road for no reason, but it rides smooth...which says a lot."  To continue with my analogy here, I would rather feel an occasional bump in the perverbial road than have my vehicle stall and have to restart.

It is a common phase in a child's development, when he/she has the deepest belief, that however he/she experiences the outside world, that is exactly the same for everyone else. When they grow up, they learn that people experience the same things differently. Also, their own "truth" might not be true for others. Before this happens, though, they will try and force to convince everyone of "their" own truth, by using their own "proofs" - which, of course only prove an aspect of perception from their OWN point of view and from nobody else's....

I cannot stop smiling when someone brings up "ultimate proof"s to prove their childish claims, and they even fail to realize, that it only proves their "general truth" in their very own world, and not in general at all.

A video recorded and put up on youtube proves only one thing: that game was hitching on THAT computer, and that computer only ... I never thought it is that hard to comprehend.

Welcome to the real world :)

Played through the beta to current times on an Intel 2.4 Ghz with 2 Gig RAM on a 5400 rpm HD with AV software running at all times. Video card was an nVidia 5900 with 128 meg until recently when I upgraded to a 7300 with 256 meg. Video settings are at medium overall. No hitching with either card so far.

After checking the video links, there are lots of possible reasons for the behavior seen, many not game related.

While viewing the video links, I also viewed:

and they do not seem to be showing any hitching problem.

Well I went from a nividea 7950 gt card no hitching to a 8800 gt oc card I get a better frame rate in general and can max graphic and yes I know have a small amount of hitching. So those that have gone on and on about there is no hitching sorry but there is for me now. Not game breaking but surely annoying.

These example videos goes to show someone not knowing what hitching is...

Yes...this is the best I have seen the game run, but they also exhibit "hitching" even though the author states otherwise...

Also, for the author of those videos to get that game to run that way he had

4 gigs ram, SLI and 10k raptor drives...so, outlay between 1500 to 3000 cash to get "almost" hitch free?

Anyways, In the first video for example at time marker 4 secs and then at 14 secs...hitching,.,,plain as day

So, yes Virginia, there is a hitching problem...

As to your hardware...the game cannot even run fast enough to begin with to even hitch in the first place...it has been noted on mostly higher end hardware....(as another poster stated...he switched to an 8800 card, and now has the hitch...)...so, all indications pointed to the game being developed for the "WoW" computer crowd (low end systems, running low end settings)

As to the statement about the crashes...

I can either crash once or twice in a gameplay session (this is a crash to desktop...which seems to be dwindling as some days I get none now) or a "constant" hitch that has existed since closed beta....so, progress has been made on the "crash" and no progress on the "hitch"

I think I know which I prefer...

At those time markers are no pauses (on my feed), most likely streaming interruptions, not hitching. As to my hardware not being good enough to hitch sounds like sour grapes since my two setups bracket the hardware that another poster who was complaining about hitching stated having, but you did not mention that opinion about that setup.

Check your system thoroughly. I have an 8800 GTS and no hitching at all.

It is *not* the 8800 alone that causes the issue for you guys.

I havent been on lotro for a while but I have helped people on it in the past with the hitching issue as I found an option that cut it out for some people when I first started playing.

Go into the troubleshooting section of the ingame options and set max frame rate to about 40 and drop the engine speed down a notch.

Not sure how the rendering engine in the game works but when set to run flat-out on some systems it basically doesnt work correctly and the game judders a LOT.

This has fixed the issue for a lot of players in the past. You dont need that large a PC to run the game on smoothly either with a bit of option tweaking.
