What does everyone think about elimination of the click to move stiuation that GW2 won't offer.. I must say when you're in the heat of a gvg/HA etc. and can click to move as you concentrate on skills it makes kiting that much more effective.. I also wonder about attacking, if spacebar is going to be jump, how do you attack as a melee class.. I guess it's possible to change that to a different button.. how do other MMO's that offer a similiar movement situation as GW2 is going to have work with PVP?? There's so much more to consider with free movement i.e. jumping as it relates to 8v8 gvg's.. jumping off ledges.. etc. Kiting as we know it will be redefined.. bodyblocking with jumping?? Bodyblocking is such a tactical skill a team can have in the current system.. will that disapeaer? Hopefully there's a host of new strategic gameplay situation we'll discover..I guess the map design will tell a lot.. |

with free moving you can expect right click to attack . the game probably play a lot different that GW best thing to do is to forget about GW1 when your playing GW2. i wouldn't expect them to do almost anything the same, or else they'd just make another expansion. |

Originally posted by endlesone Nope, its going to be WASD as you can't use click to move in a game that uses the z-axis properly... clicking to move an assasin and using teleport skills won't work (an example given by James Phinney way back when this was discussed with him) |

I personally think it's nice that they remove click to move. For me it was always in the way of my movement as I usually misclicked somewhere and then my character started running off somewhere. |

I dont think I ever used click to move beside to click on a vendor. One thing that I think is underrated about Guild Wars is the pathing. You can click on a vendor halfway across a city over a bridge and 2 sets of stairs and it will run you over there. I don't remember more than a handful of time I got stuck while on auto-run to a NPC. I always used arrow keys to move, "C" to select closest foe / "Tab" to cycle and ofcourse the numbers for skills. I remember when I got back from a 6-7 month forced break from the game, I was having trouble in my first few fights because I could not remember my hand position on the keyboard and everything felt ackward. That quickly got rectified, but still I had to laugh at myself. Loss of click to move in GW2 no big deal to me. |

I never use click to move, unless I click on an NPC to move to them basically. I just can't find a use for it. If I need to focus on skills, I just hit the auto-run key and steer with the right mouse button while use skills in which I can move. Most of my skills require me to stand still in most of my characters however, meaning the above is almost useless too. |

I agree on the first thing about clicking vendors, it's a really nice feature, especially if you can't find them. Just hold alt and click their name. But this feature is pissing me off quite often, I seem to get stuck 60% of the time or so. Especially when in cities my character seems to either get stuck or just lag back into the same point. |

Alot will depend on how they deal with lag. I'm no expert on it, but as i understand it - wasd movement is client-side (can lag alot), click-move is server-side (almost no lag). That is why click-move is favoured for kiting/general PvP (especially running flags/relics). Body-blocking is of such importance in PvP, that using wasd movemet while trying to avoid it (or indeed inflict it)is unforgiveable. Same goes for dodging projectiles. Clicking also ensures the shortest path is taken while running to places, gaining/keeping the advantage. If they fix WASD movement, i guess everything will be fine. Otherwise it wil be a joke. |
