You can't upgrade ( that's right, upgrade ) from Vista to XP without a reformat. It's always better to start with a clean install anyway. Plus it gets rid of all the useless crap HP throws in as well. |

well im going to format the hard drive, but before I do I want to know if anyone done this before and what problem they have. I know I have to get all my drivers in to a disc before I format sense im not upgrading (well it is kind of upgrade sense vista is crappy) Anyone with hp pc done this before? where can i find all drivers that are compatible with xp? |

Actually partitioning the drive(s) will come before (re)formatting if you'd like to change the number of virtual drives you have (can slightly speed things up on the virtual C: drive with a large hard drive). I just Googled "installing windows" + "guide" and came up with this. Just glancing at it it looks okay to me, and should help. Just remember that a prime spot for downloading drivers (after you have a basic install done and your internet connection set up) will be the HP website. Or instead you could first put whatever drivers you'll need on disk with your Vista install before you even get started. GL. |

Celebrating my tenth year of online gaming...gawd I need a life...=P |
I have done this as well with my desktop. As long as you have a copy of XP cd just put it in your drive n restart n let it do the complete wipe n install. Also be sure you have all you drives...HP has a website, so link to it n it will automatically check n update all the drives of your PC. |
