First, a simple explanation of what net neutrality is:

Now we all know Ron Paul can't get the Republican nomination because he lacks wide support, but he most likely will continue to run as an Independent in the general election so don't believe the hype from some posters on this site that Ron Paul is a demigod. Don't waste your vote.

Ron Paul supporters try and spin his anti net neutrality stance as a positive, by claiming that government regulation to keep the internet neutral will actually allow the government to control the internet and influence us by directing us to propaganda sites and limit access to subversive sites. Well this type of hysteria is only found in classic sci-fi films and deserves as much concern.

The fact is that most ISP providers are either cable televison providers or satellite televison providers or phone service providers also, all of which are already heavily regulated by the government, without any indication of propaganda influence being added to our channel lineups or limitations of what we can access or who we can call.

Net neutrality blocks progress.  The internet need to be completely rebuilt and net neutrality blocks that from happening.  Things like spam, spyware, and viruses thrive because the internet was not designed to a public entity and with some simple changes this could easily be fixed.  Of course like many things the paranoid try tom paint the net neutrality as either it must happen or the worst case scenario will automatically happen.  Take the time to study both sides and you'll notice that only one side can seem to put together a half way credible argument, and it's not the pro side.  It's nice to see with all the annoying posts about Ron Paul that he is finally behind something worth while.  Considering how horrible the candidate pool is on both sides this election he may garner a pity vote from me if he runs as a independent.

Newsflash: The net isn't going to be rebuilt.

You can't place the genie back in the bottle and start from scratch. The best you can do is fine tune things with some government oversight. It's not going to happen because private enterprise will do the right thing.

Al Gore says that he can do it......again.

He's too busy trying to scare people about global warming so he can sell carbon credits.

Gore buys his carbon off-sets from himself--the Generation Investment Management LLP, "an independent, private, owner-managed partnership established in 2004 with offices in London and Washington, D.C." of which he is both chairman and founding partner.

With PvE raiding it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fauning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privelege. - Neanderthal

Um:

#1:  Ron Paul has stated emphatically that he will not run as an independent on numerous occasions.  He has said he won't have enough money to run Republican primary and then do a Presidential run as an independent.  He needs to win the primary or he is done, so if you truly support him, you'd better get some people out to vote for him.

#2:  The net will be rebuilt in the near future.  Every professional within the business has stated that it cannot handle what the future holds for networking and that it was built completely wrong for what it has become.  Hindsight is twenty-twenty you know...

Considering there are multiple groups already working on the design...

So one day I am gonna try and surf the net and I am gonna get a black screen which says "Internet down due to maintenance"? I don't think so.

What people are working on is fine tuning, not rebuilding.

Net Neutrality holds back progress. HA!

That is probably the most laughable thing I have heard today. You know what net neutrality is holding back? Profits for the large telecommunication companies, and nothing more. Without it, these campanies can (and will) begin charging "extra" for bandwidth privileges. The internet would fast become nothing but a corporate cesspool.

Google could simply pay AT&T to give them more bandwidth for users, i.e. their website would load faster than their competition: Yahoo.

Amazon could pay to give their website much more bandwidth than their smaller competitors. No more small internet businesses, and with Wal-Mart and Target moving in every city across the nation you'll likely not see any small businesses at all anymore.

Getting rid of Net Neutrality is probably one of the stupidest dieas anybody has ever concieved of. Even when the telecom companies were airing their anti-Net Neutrality commercials they couldn't convince anybody I knew that it was a good idea.

By the way, I love how some of you guys think these giant corporations have your best interest at heart. It's almost cute in a wierd sort of way.

Eternally mine,
