NetDevil has announced that they have partnered with Codmasters to publish Jumpgate Evlolution in Europe and North America.

Codemasters Online have today unveiled their next generation MMORPG set for release in 2008, Jumpgate. Developed by the US-based experienced MMOG developer NetDevil, Jumpgate is a space-based MMO incorporating all-new action style gameplay like never seen before in any previous online game.

‘We are very pleased to be working with NetDevil to release this exciting project across North America & Europe. Jumpgate brings something new and fresh to the online persistent space,” commented David Solari, Vice President, Codemasters Online. “The all-action approach and thrilling, twitch-based space combat really sets it apart from other MMOs in the market and we are very much looking forward to releasing this space epic in late 2008.”

Well, there goes all possibility that I'll play that game. Codemasters pretty much ruins whatever it touches.

Yeah I got the same issue here.

Yeah, there was a bit of an issue with the link.  It should be working now.

Well no surprise that Netdevil didn't make a deal with Ncsoft after they canned auto assault i think Netdevil holds a grudge lol. Codemasters are not that bad the do pretty well running DDO and Lotro they could of done worse im just happy its SOE.

They could have done alot worst. At least it is a proven producer.

My experience with Codemasters.

1. Payment

Back when RF-Online got released.. I wanned to stop payment. Everytime i hit cancel it got to state pending. After a few months i called my bank. After a few months my bank wasnt able to make em stop charging me. So they did a full chargeback on codemasters.

Before that. It was a pain to even start the payment.

2nd game was archlord. Generaly just a problem to get em to recconice my visa card. (new bank, new card, new address). But many ppl had this issue

2. Stability and servers.

They are well known for lagged servers and bad stability. Proberly  because, most of the games they published was not made by em self. And they have not been able to change the source code em self. Due to contract with the creators.

But their internet connection is a joke.

3. Overall Reputation

a. Their customer service, answer quick. But they dont really do any service. back to square one. b. Stability on their recent games has been low.  c. Their billing deparment dosnt really work as intended. and we are back at "a"

I only played RFonline and Archlord when they were free so I don't know how they handle credit cards and such.  RFonline runs fine, no lag and overall good performance.  Archlord on the other hand there is some lag, but not all the time and not to bad, the game is still playable.

In a recent article on mmorpg.com with codemasters they said they were working on a couple F2P mmos so maybe this is one of them.  I never played the first one so I don't know what to expect.  We'll see.  It'll be nice to have another scifi MMO though no matter if its free or pay.

I'd be happier if Codemasters could at least get the name of the game right....sigh. Just "Jumpgate" makes me think of the old version. They should be going with "Jumpgate Evolution" if they don't want people to think they are going to market an old game already out.

I wish they had picked a better publishing company than Codemasters.  They are a horrible company that is too slow on the pick up.  Everything that happened with RFO, with population imbalance and mass desertion because of it, was predicted by the playerbase well before it happened.  But Codemasters with their squat experience at the time thinking they knew everything because they published the game ignored the playerbase and look what happened.  A mass desertion of RFO, 5 servers being merged to 1, I think there might be 2 now thats its f2P.

If Codesmasters had just a tiny bit of common sense they could have turned RFO into a decent niche MMO that didnt need to go F2P.  Sure they wouldnt have been a big MMO, but they could have kept enough interest and players for the 5 servers.  Also their support is absolute crap, it took them forever to even get a decent webpage up for RFO.  And by decent I mean a webpage with at least some info on the game, I mean when the players know more about whats in the game and how things function better than the people running the game, then I think there is something wrong.

I will still play this game, I just hope Codemasters is as limited as possible a partner in all this, such as just publishing and maybe advertising and letting netdevil do the webpage, support, and game stuff.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

At least they'll advertise well, they're pretty good at that regardless of the gamestate.
And it might actually get some decent mainstream coverage in Britain.

Oh, noooooo! I am anticipating JGE so much. I dont really like CM. They tend to do a very unprofessional work. I hope they manage to do it correctly this time
