The developers responsible for Battleground Europe: World War II Online have released the patch notes for the version 1.28.0.255 update that went live on January 22nd.

Unity 1.5 Graphics Engine Update:

  • Frame rate and stutter performance are dramatically improved in this release.
  • Improved terrain loading
  • Reduced memory footprint
  • Improved collision code
  • Improved OpenGL state handling
  • Vehicle hulks now queue for loading

Vehicle Marking:

  • All ground and air vehicles now have historical looking markings
  • These markings are per brigade
  • Each player will also have an identifying mark based on their game name (these are not globally unique)
  • For a complete list see the WWIIOL Wiki

Check out all of the notes here.

No it hasn't folded.  There has been an ebb and flow of players but a solid core of players have always been around

I wish CRS had included screen shots with the press release that would have illustrated these unit markings.

That's funny, out of all the games I've played, this is the only one I didn't uninstall after 2 weeks.

Yes, I know I mispelled Shiner Bock. Don't blame me, blame society.

This is the only game I have played regularely since 2002. All the others gets boring within a few hours lile WoW;  or days like BF, Doom3 and RO. Some games gets my interest for a few weeks like MoH and CoD (ony due to a decent storyline in single player mod. Other makes it a few month like HoI and Total War before I'm done with them.

WWIIOL have stucked on me. Hard to tell one thing for why. Proberbly since it is a very complexed and difficult game that always gives an awesome challange to the player. Since WWIIOL has so many dimensions as well as a great tactical and strategical depth plus that it's the most realistic WWII MMOG out there is it very hard to find a more challeging WWII MMOG out there.

At the same time do I understand that the hard realism isn't for everyone. Many gamers wants an easy casual game without a step learning curve. A game where you can take the role of a Hollywood invincible Hero ala Rambo, and just RunN'Gun at a few other sports. I don't fancy that very much, but that is just me.

I guess it is just too difficult to most kids, why it isn't a surprice that the middle age of the player base is over +30 years old, and that many players are active or retired military personal.

I enjoyed the game quite a bit.

Ive quit and have returned twice now.

Reason this is so, i like to fly and the controls for the planes are too tedious and complicated, i guess battlefield and the newer games out have spoiled me with simpler, user friendly control settings.

a few bugs got  me too,  shooting rifle granades it he air at an arc of 45 degrees in a city and watching it bounce off of nothing 20 feet in the air.

Lastly the cheaters... invinsability, glitching in obstructions, even under the map, godmode.

5 of us on the french side followed this german for like 3 min shooting him, stabbing him as he went and capped a cp then potatoed us all after the cp fell to the germans, killing us all.

I sent in a report with his name, and the time of the cp cap, explaining the situation, two weeks later, i see the guy is still playing.

So i quit.
