In EQ2, Mentoring is the most amazing thing that could happen in the game.. being able to be a chosen fellowship members level in a split second while you get 95% less XP from everything the person you are mentoring gets a 5% XP bonus. |

Why the hell should I work? She''ll just spend all my money on shoes anyways! |
You don't need it in LotRO. Anyone is allowed to group with any level and there are no penalties that I know of. Maybe you get a bit less xp for mobs you kill but that isn't how you level in LotRO. I am positive you are not penalized for quest xp what so ever. The point behind mentoring in EQ2 is because when someone is 10 levels(I think, its been awhile)above you you stop getting xp. This is why mentoring was needed in EQ2. |

In LOTRO the xp is dampened a lot... say a level 20 and a 50 are in the same group the level 20 will only get 10 xp per kill instead of 200+xp that the mob normally gives. |

I thought about it. And here is what i found out.
In EQ2 and COH mentoring works because those games are based on GRIND. You get most of exp from killing monsters. Killing monster below your level brings no exp. And killing one above is not possible. There comes mentoring
In LOTRO however GRIND does not bring almost any xp. QUESTS do. Quest EXP is fixed. You always get the same ammount, no mather what level you are. So if you wish to mentor someone , just GROUP and do quests. It works the same as if you are mentoring him !
