It just blew me away when i read the AOC dev blog. All i could think of was how ironic is this and how will all the people who bad mouthed SOE and there staff for not listening, respond to this. I think there are several hundred maybe over a thousand who are currently praising AOC as the next GOD game.Of those how many will now change face after finding out the dev was a large part of what people hated about SOE and there staff. Personally i have no problems with the guy whatsoever because i have always praised SOE staff for there hardwork,i just want to know how many that bashed them and now are praising the exact same guy now that he is with AOC,will stick to there guns and now complain about AOC staff? This guy was with SWG lmao, how many have bashed that staff?he was with eq2 again SOE,people said there staff doesn't listen. So how many are now jumping off the AOC bandwagon after they find out one of the big guys from SOE's staff ,that they hate so much is now a big part of the AOC staff? The blog is of course on this site. The guy was community manager, a GM ,part of the financial sector and amongst the SWG staff and EQ2 staff, both of wich is SOE of course. So AOC hires a prominent member of the SWG/EQ2 staff from SOE,That so many hate, really ironic to read that blog .lol. |

And your point is ? Just because they worked for SOE before doesn't mean they're the prime evil spawn of the mmorpg industry. |

Hell, I think one of the most important things to keep in mind if you are a developer is that: Most people aren't game designers, and don't understand how changing certain things will cause the whole game to spiral into the toilet.
If you try to listen to every single person who complains about something you're going to get nowhere. "Whaa, my fighter just got backstabbed by a thief, I want to nerf them!" Or "Said loot from said mob doesn't drop often enough, fix the drop rate." If you listen to all this crap from people who seem to want everything handed to them on a silver platter, and then complain when it is, your game is going to suffer for it. If it's not broke don't fix it. Most people who play a game don't even go to the forum unless the game is down for some reason, if then. So you aren't really listening to the majority, you're just listening to the kids who like to complain. SOE has made a mistake or two, but that's the MMO business. It's a realitively new frontier and sometimes you have to take risks in order to accomplish something.
I have hopes for each and every MMO coming out this year, and I will most likely try them all. |

Did you feel the same way when AoC was supposed to hit your PC in 2006? how about 2007? Ok, if not, what if it goes another few months (considering we're now up to May) |

A big reason people hate SOE has more to do with policy and less to do with specific people. I don't think it's ever fair to blame a specific individual for the failings of a company without really knowing what it's like behind the scenes. You can hate the guy if you want :/ But at funcom he will have to follow Funcom's policies, and he's been working there for 3 years already. Give the guy a break. |

This blog guy was so involved in the two SOE games SWG and EQ it's not funny,i think he was even in on EQ2 but can't remember now. It's so ironic too because if the industry followed the public outcries ,a company like funcom would never hire a top notch from SOE knowing it may offend so many SWG/SOE haters. |

I rather see the developers take their time and fix whatever needs fixing than to see a half/done job upon release. |
