Let's see....

Bring back CREATURE HANDLER

BIO ENGINEER

SCOUTS

And this as full professions not a secondary crap.

And get rid of startup JEDI, jedi should have stayed the way it was, almost impossible to get without a lot of hard work.

Get rid of that extremely annoying targeting scheme NGE brought, which totally suxx...

Now is just a frigginf fps with lame professions.....

At least space component has stayed the same.

And I did log the last few weeks with a trial account to check things out, and the game is still buggy and sux! No wonder 9 milion players play WoW!

Yes yes, your "not getting over it" seems to be working wonders...

And do you guys really think someone won't do an NGE again?

Believe me somewhere at sometime, some game will pull the same stunt. With someone at that game saying "Oh we won't do it like SOE did, this time it will be better!" It will happen, mostly due to people being 'human' and thinking they can make more money off of something. Hell for the most part Ultima Online got NGE'd in 2000 with Trammel. Believe me their are still people screaming that the game should have Classic Servers! And that change was just getting people away from Player Killers and Thief's. Same amount of yelling and screaming from the Player Base. Same posts of "Classic Servers or Rollback!" the same doom posts of "UO will be shut down in (X Amount) of (time here)!"

And that change was just due to EA deciding that the old game just didn't work, and people did stay away before it thanks to UO's rep of slow skill gain. And going out of town had you trying to recall before the 187 clan of Player Killers lead by "ikillnoobz" and his mindless lacky's named after WWF Wrestlers, gangsta rappers, and maybe one of the Tiny Toons, killed you, trapped your ghost, and emoted things over your body that would get you in real life thrown in prison for a damn long time.

The fact is this, games will get changed... Even if it's not an NGE someone at the game will decide that one of the Classes or Skills is too powerful and nerf it, ticking people off. It's happened for years, be it a nerf of a few Classes on a MUD. To nerfing or changing a Weapon in an FPS. Or even changing the game... Hit the Fallout 3 forums and see how the old Fallout fans are screaming about Fallout 3 being more 'Elder Scrolls' like, rather then going with the outdated system that Fallout 1 and 2 had... Hell I've seen people screaming about how BioShock isn't System Shock 2, or how Call of Duty 4 should have been based in World War 2... Cuz ya know the Call of Duty name means it's a World War 2 game...

And dear god it happens to Pen and Paper RPG's as well! I myself just started playing Dungeons and Dragons again. And at the place I play at some of the people that go there HATE the new rules and setting. And almost all of them are just down right screaming about the new rules set coming out, that is planing on making D&D more 'WoW' like.

So the big over all point is, games change. Sometimes it's something small that will tick people off, and sometimes it's something big that will tick more people off. It's going to happen, and really you guys can scream untill your blue in the face, but it was still going to change.

you have all of your info wrong and are lieing on most of it mikemb.

no dev will ever do an nge again thanks to us. if they do then the samething that happen to swg will happen to that game. a player base of under 10k and they will most likely shut down.

ultima sucked after ultima online renaissance. what made uo great was the fact that people had that freedom to do what they wanted. ea would have made more money if the game was rolled back or had classic servers. and once again you are telling a lie. those kinds of players didn't play uo. all the player killers i knew did role play and never did anything like that. they had been the lifeblood of that game.

and all the changes to games have made them bomb.

fallout 3 shouldn't be a elder scrolls clone and the makers are turning it into it. it should go back to the people who made the first fallout. it is their game.

bioshock sucked it's overrated and everyone knows that. the real game of the year should have gone to uncharted. a game that had a better storyline and looked much better. all bioshock tried to be was doom with spells and a bad storyline.

call of duty 4 who is going to play that? it's a kiddie game filled with people trash talking one another.

and look at how well dungeons and dragons is doing. the online game isn't good. and the new rules are just bad. why do you think neverwinter nights 1 and 2 bombed.

you don't get it do you mikemb. this is a war. more and more people like blizzard and microsoft and nintendo are turning our games into kiddie games. we want games that are hard. we want to be rewarded for time spent in the game. and look at how well all of them have done. warcraft just has 13 year olds running around insulting one another. you didn't see that in swg pvp you never saw that cuz we are all adults. the xbox has failed microsoft sells a system that breaks down every month and xbox live is filled with racist 13 year olds who have ruined every game. and the wii is a joke makers are turning away from it due it it's controls.

that's what soe did to us they wanted to bring the 13 year olds in and kill off good rp and pvp and turn the game into a joke. that is why us vets have won now others are seeing that we are the market they should be going after. we are loyal and care more about games then someone like yourself.

so i am going to ask you to please remove yourself from this forum mikemb. we no longer wish to hear your lies.

For the record, I have a station access pass, and about a month ago, I logged into SWG to see what's left. The crafting system is more or less intact, which is good. But the NGE is still in full force, and despite my efforts, I just can't get into it.

I'm still upset about how the game changed, though I won't go into it because obviously those reasons have been repeatedly stated here.

MMORPG.com created a separate forum for us former SWG players to remember the good times as we see them. Or perhaps, the better times, as no time was really that good no matter how much we would like to remember it.

So why come to this forum just to stir up trouble? Why throw a rock at the hornet's nest?

Most of us, like myself, have moved on. We just sometimes like to come here and talk about our former SWG days. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

After all, we certainly aren't the first posters on MMORPG.com to bitch about something we don't like.

The forum may have been created for people to reminisce, but that's not what it's being used for. Look around -- pretty much every thread is "zomg SOE sux" and basically ripping a game that a vast majority of the people who post in this thread have not logged into in two-plus years.

if you want to stay here and hear the truth about soe and swg then go ahead. if you want to run your mouths about how swg is a great game. then please go to another forum like the main swg one. where all of you and the other 10 people who like the nge can go.

see we have 250k people who will get the pre-cu back or have swg shutdown. look how how well soe is doing it won't take that long. i will laugh if soe doesn't do anything and by the end of the year shuts down.

besides eve online is the better game with 500k and growing. by the end of the year almost every mmo in the works will have a system like eve's leaving the dumb level based warcraft systems behind.

So in other words, because you can't play pre-CU SWG, you want the people who are still playing to have a game they enjoy destroyed.

Wow. Selfish much?

Well first off, I agree that games change.  In many cases they should too.

What sets this whole deal apart for me is really 2 main things.

The first is how badly misled everyone was, intentionally, when SOE and LA marketted the Trials of ObiWan expansion without ever mentioning that they were going to implement the NGE.  I mean, they sold people things they knew they were going to immediately delete.  That's just wrong no matter how you look at it, and I've never seen anything like that before or since from a service provider.   I truly doubt that will ever happen again.  Imagine all the money they lost through that maneuver alone with all the refunds they had to give for the misrepresented expansion.  Then add to that all the money they lost via cancelled subscriptions.  No, that was not your standard example of "this game may change over time."

Also, this wasn't modifications being made to an existing game system, this was one game being chucked out and replaced by another one, only bearing the same name.  Heck even the promotional adds for the CU said it was like a whole new game.  They also blatantly admitted that this "new game" was "wow-inspired."  The NGE took that concept even further.  On top of that, one SOE exec was quoted in the Washington post saying that they knew they were going to lose a lot of their original playerbase.  They didn't care because they intended to replace us with a new and bigger player community.  That was callous disregard for an entire consumer-base.  It was outrageously uncaring towards the players, and it was outright bad business.

Further, thousands of players and some of their own staff gave SOE this information before they went ahead and pulled the NGE trigger.  Rather than trying to fix this horrifying mess with some small act of good faith and reparation (e.g. a classic server) the people that tried to warn SOE get blamed for all the bad press.

No, I'm afraid this is a very unique situation that is screwed up on so many levels that it's nearly indescribable.  Here's hoping that it remains a very unique situation.

We were lied to, mistreated, betrayed, and had something we invested a LOT of time into suddenly taken away from us in an unethical and probably illegal manner.

I think it is safe to say that most of us will be satisfied when SWG closes the doors for good.

Wow. Selfish much?

It is not really a matter of being selfish it is a matter of being practical. I dont want anything from SOE. I wouldnt play even if they did open a Pre-CU server. Star Wars however is one of the most popular and recognized IP's in the world and it represented in the MMO world by SWG and SOE? That right there is just a shame. SOE has shown themselves to be incompetent for many years now. This game is the joke of the industry. The "what not to do" to your MMO and community. Star Wars deserves far better than this.

The only real solution to this problem is for SWG to be given to another company getting it as far away from SOE as possible or for it to die and LA  gives the IP to another developer. I personally think that LA will shut this thing down when they have something else to replace it with. From a business stand point it only makes sense to try and distance yourself from this abomination and start over again with a new developer and a new game.
