Just bored, I am sure the game will get better in the future, they always do. And too all those silly folks bashing WOW all the time, remember, you loved it when it came out, that's whey you have a lvl 70 Warlock. |

Naw, I gave up when my Warlock was 60..... Too bad TR didn't work out for you, maybe the next one will. But expect them all to be pretty much more of the same.

I'm really starting to wonder if a good mmo is ever going to be released again. Seems like all are to afraid to stray from the beaten path. look at turbine. They have one of the best ever sandbox types out in AC and then look at lotr. O well, guess we'll see this year when the hype settles and AOC and WAR release. till then I'll play this one. At the least there are fewer time sinks and the battles are fun.

Welcome to Philadelphia, now go home! |
Most MMO's are the same. They are either have Quests that are linear based (WoW, LOTRO), a pure grind (go kill x of y), or just don't have that many quests and you just have to muddle your own way through. Very few games these days leave it up to the player to make their own way through the game. Only game I ever saw that did this to great effect was the Elder Scrolls series. Until the next generation of games comes out like AoC, WAR and even Bethesda's Fallout Online, I won't pass judgement. Until a game has been out for at least a year, long enough to get all the bugs out and figure out what style they are going for, its little use bashing the game. TR has not been out for a year officially. Frankly, besides Anarchy Online, its only other Sci Fi MMO out that doesn't rely soley on flying ships around. Its a viable option for now, until the other games coming out get stable enough to warrant an actual review. |

Originally posted by KckStrt Who said it was love? I was tricked, it was a scandal! I played WoW to kill time with friends. Everything was simple enough that I didn't have to really concentrate on what I was doing in the background (like killing giant spiders) while chatting. It was more or less an expensive messenger. Different story for TR; it demands your attention constantly and you have to click madly to stay alive. You're being forced to concentrate on how much of a grind it is by the nature of the combat style, so it wears you out faster. No real opportunity for chatting... if you're talking, you're not killing stuff. Sub-par shooter, sub-par social game; overall a hybrid that couldn't deliver from conception. |

Originally posted by KckStrtChange your playstyle, maybe then you could enjoy TR aswell. The missions are NOT the same, they have different TEXT, but i geuss the new gen type of player does not border to actualy read hte missions/storylines, the new gen type of player does not want to get involved with a game, they seem only to worry about "whats the quickest way to max lvl" And the "you can kill whatever what you have on you" is what i mean with change your playstyle, don't be a sheep and just pick whats the best but try and put some effort into it and try to challenge yourself. And being bored has NOTHING to do with the game it's indiviuals that because of hte way they play a game they get bored, they do not even realize that when someone say's he/she is bored that it actualy means they have nothing better in live, yes i said it as that is my opinion when i see newbs saying they are bored. Another reason why someone gets bored would be because they simply are burned out by the genre. Or it could be that because of the shallow playstyle they have they can get bored aswell. Seriusly if someone gets bored with a game then just be mature and leave that game, do something else, play another game or better yet try something away from hte computer.....oh i'm sure that now i will get reply's about people saying they have enough going in rl, if so ask yourself how can someone that would have enough going for them come to a forum to say they bored, sorry it seems just to be a fashionstatement but made without anythought what it really means when someone tells others they are bored. |

Hmm.. not sure what he refers to as not being able to chat while exp'ing. The game has plenty to offer with the main difference of NOT having to go to a raid/group instance to feel the exiliration(sp?) of a good fight simply level up and go to one of the zones where higher level bane troops bang a CP. If thats not pure organized fun for you defend against then I am not sure if anything in the MMO PvE realm will be. TR does not force anyone into a dull grind - you can if you want and you will get your rewards but you dont have to. That would be the opposite side of the scale from WoW. |

I think the issue is that TR has such a lack of content that the more hardcore of mmo players will shred the game in literally hours and days, as the OP points out you can do anything with pretty much any weapon, the Logos things are... well.... whatever.
One fun thing to do in TR when your level 50 and have insane levels of credits is to buy heaps of expensive chaingun ammo and just shoot aimlessly in population centers :D relive those predator moments shooting up the jungle, oh yesh.
And even though i despise WoW, it is a brilliant game, has gotten a lot right for sure.

I was what I was and I was what I wanted to be....Thanx SWG/NGE :( MCH/M-Ranger/M-Scout |
I just finished the 3 day free trial... Overall I had a blast. I leveled 2 toons to 10 and 12...wanted to try both sides of the tree.
Likes: I liked the fast paced action, defending the control points, decent quests, not bad solo play...most quests can be completed solo, not just sitting in your quest log 'till they go grey 'cuz you cant get a group together. Though the quests will be familiar to most of you...go to (x) collect / kill (x) of (x)...there is plenty to keep you busy in you travels with Bane drop ships popping up (not just spending your time running from one place to another.) Though there could be a little more random spawns it wasn't bad (not just the same mobs, in the same spots every time you run through an area...(but a little more random spawns for the drop ships would keep it interesting (Hint to Dev's)) Kinda reminded me of Half-Life. I can't say much about End Game, but if it catches on, I'm sure new content will be added. This is not a game where I'm going to buy a house and settle in somewhere...not intended to be.
Dislikes: $50 for the game and $15 / month!!! C'mon guys...look what's out there! If you want me to pay $50 for the game then drop the monthly to...say $10...or if you're smart....free to DL, free to Update...and $15 / month! Look at EVE, it's worked great for them...I'ld still be playing that if it wasnt for the unballanced PvP making it nearly impossible for any solo play...but that's another story Graphics is ok...could be better, but I'm pushing the system req's, I still enjoyed the game at general graphics settings. Crafting
Overall: I enjoyed the 3 days, liked the "feel" of the game...but I'm not going to pay $50 for the game AND $15 / month to play.....one or the other guys (Dev's). Don't make it quite so obvious that you're trying to get into my wallet. If you really BELIEVE you have a game with long term interest and staying power...and intend to update and expand the player experience...then you wouldn't need to hit me for $50 / $15 (what...dont think you have a good enough product to keep me around long term?) Heck...I wouldn't stay with WoW f it wasn't for the fact that I have so much time invested...I REALLY HATE having to go out and pay another $50 every time WoW comes out with an expansion...and if it wasn't for the social aspect, having so many friends still playing...I wouldn't. |

| I've seen things, you...people, wouldn't believe... . Attack ships on fire, off the shoulder of Orion... . I watched C-Beams, glitter in the darkness near the Tannhauser Gate... . All those...moments will be lost in time... . Like...tears...in the rain... |
