The biggest MMO I've played was EQ1, and that was only with 3 expansions. That is my vote.

ditto, i quit after PoP and there was more content then, than most mmos have now, i cant even imagine how big the EQ world is now, since i quit playing sooo long ago

How can we predict whether a game will have new add-ons?!

EVE Online releases extra add-ons for free, so in terms of value it's a great deal.

No annoying animated GIF here!

Haven't tried all of the games, but Lineage II (even if it has a numb grind) has shitloads of content, fortresses, castles, clan housing, a lot of craftable items, a huge world to get lost, a shitload of useless quests, some usefull ones, an incredible ammount of different mobs, even if some of them have the same textures, 3 ways of enhancing a weapon, a lot of different sets. LII sucks overally in NA/EU, but you can't really complain about content.

Lord of the Rings online could be a good choice...

Being a young game, LoTRO is not even in Top 30. It's world is really small.

I wonder who has more content - Everquest 1 or Asheron's Call. Any bets?

LotRO... Small world? I'm afraid you missed the part where you look at the map Anyway, those 2 games have a lot of content, indeed, but a very small community.... Just warning you ^^

I am the man!!

I would have to say Everquest 1 or EVE. Playing both I can think of the grand scale that they come with. EVE can be more massive because its always evolving so which zones you would use are always going to change. I mean what other game as its own economist on staff to follow the games trends to put out reports for the players that want to be traders.. But that is the same content being molded around. If you mean fresh new creatures zones, etc.. Then I would give that to Everquest 1 just because its a ton of expansions strong all with new mobs zones quest and so on.

Sorry, mate, but Everquest 1 with 14 large expansions and 400+ game zones beats the hell out of EQ2 in terms of content

But there is nothing to do in those zones except kill the same mobs over and over.  No question EQ1 has more “places” but that’s not what the OP was asking for.

LoTRO world is smaller then in any other modern MMORPG. Like 10 zones and 2 raid instances - thats it. They are beautiful though

Anyway, back to the topic.

I highly doubt that EQ has over 200,000 players since 2007. However, I do agree that EQ has a whole lot of content and most likely has more subscribers than EQ2!

Personally, it feels like I have experienced the most overall content (environment, quests, items, activities, etc.) in WoW - a bit more than EQ in quantity. With respect to the overall quality of content, I think FFXI is the best by a small margin.

Too weird to live, and too rare to die

EverQuest 1 definitely has the most amount of non-randomly-generated content of any MMORPG I know of. EVE does not count because it has a lot of empty space, not a lot of actual content filling it.

EverQuest 1 has 14 expansions and almost nine years of game updates, and even the original game was pretty damn big, looking back. The world is now absolutely massive. Allakhazam lists it as having 475 zones - 475! That is more zones than the average player starting now could ever realistically explore within a couple years.

Until EverQuest 1 closes up shop - who knows when - it will probably maintain this title, as it still produces content as quickly as a lot of current games. World of Warcraft is actually quite slow (though it does release a pile of free content updates that add dungeons and such) when it comes to how much raw content it pumps out, but it is typically polished.

Now, as for which game has the "best" content, that is subjective.
