After my third attempt with EQ II I'm sad to announce that I have canceled my sub again (after only 5 days) and deleted all my characters. I just couldn't get over the 75 freak'n quests in my quest log. Every time I go to a zone to clear them, I just end up with more. I'd delete them and just go around kill'n stuff (which I enjoy) but you need to quest to get AA's (now 140 aa points). So if you don't like to quest, this might not be the game for you. The frequent and prolonged zoning got to me as well... otherwise an excellent game. R.I.P. Dimple O'Doom lvl 43 Gnome Berzerker... sniff. 40 aa points and 75 unfinished quests in his quest log. And no you can't have my stuff (its all gone).

KKTHXBYE have fun in your korean grinders.. shesh.. why did you even post here.. you're just going to get flamed.
Maybe you expected it to be like EQ1 the ultimate grind fest. Should have simply asked a few questions and anyone could have told you otherwise. 3rd time? Why would it have changed? Yes they're going to suddenly remove all the quests because people want to grind AAAHAHHA.. oh god that's hilarious.
Zoning is better then seamless. You are allowed higher quality zones with better visuals then compared to a seamless. Nothing wrong with that and if you got a decent comp it only takes a second or two to zone.
Anyway, good luck on your next game. I'd suggest Lineage 2 if you're into that whole grinding crap. |

I dont like to quest either. I like to dungeon crawl and explore. I like to get in a tight grp and get my grind on. I dont even pay attention to my quest jounal. I seem to get planty of AA's thru named kills, discos and other misc stuff. I have somewhere between 70 and 80 at lvl 59 right now. If you like the game but dont want to quest, just dont quest. It sounds like you gave it an honest shot though and its just not to your taste. Thats cool. I just dont want folks to think you have to quest cause you really dont. |

Krileon.... I don't hate the game. I think its turned out pretty damn good over the years.
I just get frustrated questing... so usually I don't quest. I just felt obligated in EQ II to quest because of the AA's. |

The OP is brain dead.
If you don't want to quest...then don't.
The game did not force you...blaming a game for having too many quest is stupid. EQ2 has other options...do not quest if you do not like them.

Yeah, was about to mention that you don't have to quest to get AA's. You can get AA's through questing, completing collectables, find unique treasure loot (the trash that sells great at vendors), and killing named NPC's. If you want huge chunks of AA experiance and status points, then you can raid. I to find it fairly easy to obtain AA's. If you didn't like it, then it just wasn't your cup of coffee. Hopefully the next game you play suites your tastes, and remember. Just enjoy gaming. After all, they are only games. And on a side note, I rarely quest. I mostly spend my time harvesting and running through instances. While harvesting, i tend to use eq2maps and hit up the named mobs scattered around the zone for AA exp. I'm a level 52 necro and have 60 AA's. I've also managed to gain around 13p and some odd gold through my travels. I enjoy EQ2 alot. My previous games played are DaoC, WoW, Eq1 and some small mmo's here and there. DaoC was my favorite game, with WoW being my least favorite even though I played the game for almost 2 years. EQ2 reminds me in some ways of DaoC. It had that semi challenge feeling which i enjoy when gaming. Anyways, just wanted to let you know were im coming from with this. Peace! |

AA's do come from more then 1 source as already said: Exploration, Discovery (not world discovery.. first time finding the item for your character), Quests, Collections.
BTW the same rule applies to RoK as did EoF. When you reach maximum level, guess what? All combat exp is convert to AA. So if you get level80 that means you can grind all you want and get AA that way instead. It's not as fast as doing quests obviously, but if that's how you want to play then the option is there.
BTW you don't need AA's to survive. All classes can work just fine with 0 AA. Now lets put this to the tests. As a necro I solo heroic named often. This is impossible without my Tainted Heals AA, but if I didn't have tainted heals. What is my alternative? Getting in a duo. That's it. Heroic named dead. TADA. Sure you split loot 50/50, but hey that's the price you pay for the way you want to play. By making quests more rewarding it gives players a large incentive to do them INSTEAD of grind. The whole idea is to get away from the camped grind fest of EQ1. Otherwise wtf would the point be in making a second Everquest? New graphics? Has to deliver more then that. It needs to deliver what the dang name even labels it as EVERQUEST, but as said you have alternatives.. whether you choose to do them or not is up to you, but just because the game doesn't cater to your style my no means is it a bad thing. Personally your style sucks. People who enjoy hardcore grinds is a minority and a minority in a business perspective doesn't roll in the dolla dolla bills. You see what i'm saying here? You're a dieing breed my friend and the days of grinding MMOs are becoming more and more numbered as time goes by. |
