I'm not afraid AoC will become another WoW, I'm afraid this new combat system (that requires gamepad to be used best) will be BORING compared to WoW.

If you saw combat videos from beta you saw how SLOW your avatar turns (opposed to this, you can turn REALLY QUICKLY by using a MMORPG standard - A MOUSE).

Too often you can MISS your opponent, cutting air with your sword.

All that looks to me like a game-breaker. Slow and frustrating combat.

And if the combat in AoC doesn't work, nothing can save it from becoming a flop.

Oh, I get it now. From now on any game using pretty much a PC to play is copying something from WoW.

No No! Any game that has you playing a Character will be a WoW-Clone. Because hey, that's stealing from WoW right there!!!

'' Graphics in AoC look like updated WoW graphics''  ......

Are you serious?

I mean, to me WoW looks like it was drawn my Disney a long time ago. And AoC looks realistic and modern, comparable to newer FPS games and alot better than Oblivion. I see no similarity between the 2 games graphically, whatsoever.

I wouldnt worry about it the OP over the last year doesn't bring really anything constructive to say especially when backing up his statements. This thread doesn't really deliver anything than the same thing said 10 months back.

The real clones have orcs, elves and dwarfs as playable races ;)

It seems they're aiming at what the Darkfall devs promised like 9 years ago.

okay that's just silly.... yeah there might be some woW alike things and that's prolly only the bloody 3 part talent trees AND giving the player more choices and fun like blizzard, if you think by making their gameplay just as loveable as WoW is a bad thing and then they are making the combat gameplay even better is a bad thing then you are nothing but a clueless idiot....

So if i were to create a new energy source for the world which would be the newest and best for the present day, why on earth would you be angry if other countries wanted that technology aswell? it would mean overall good for the whole world... yeah yeah maybe a farfetched way to compare but still, the OP is trying to catch the fish in very deep water aswell, so his is as farfetched as mine here.

Age of Conan and warhammer have studied WoW to see what players/people LIKE and loved about WoW, and sometimes when you try to recreate it, the end product might seem like the other one even if it has a different appearance but come on you can only go so far with inovative means, Blizzard pretty much did copy certain things aswell but people don't notice because blizzard just made all the mistakes other companies did and fixed them in the process and polished it to the best you could expect,. WoW is not a complete original either it did what Age of Conan is doing, seeking out the things players would love to have and want in a mmorpg and improving it, if it already existed.

So if you hate that people take some ideas seen before and simply improving it, then you might aswell leave the whole bloody mmorpg genre alone because that's how it works, improving old mistakes in certain means, and reusing features that was very enjoyable.

I am still thrilled about Age of Conan, so if you want to cut your wrists for this rather good approach.... be my guest

I don''t want to write this, and you don''t want to read it. But now it''s too late for both of us.

And even if that weren't the case...how the hell do you gather all this from the video? I watched it...repeatedly and what you see is like...no indication whatsoever.

Graphics WoW-Like??? Did we watch the same video?

The Talent-tree...of which you see like...-ONE- picture and nothing else, it's not even switched and of which it is explained why it will differ from WoW. Did you even listen to what the people were saying in the video?

So...that said, there will probably be similarities to WoW in many many games to come. That's because WoW did quite a few things right. It doesn't mean that a game is a WoW - Clone just because you spot a similarity. -.-

Oh come the talent tree is basically a snatch and grab from blizz, sure d2 and WoW's talent trees were slightly different and so will be AOC , but in the end its the same thing. One line does dps the other tanking (aoc), gee sounds familiar.

They said this is how they DIDN'T want their tree to be!  Your only back up information is this video, and you didnt even listen to the damn thing! its obvious you know nothing about AoC because it is DEFINATELY anything but a WoW clone. If you knew anything about AoC you would know that.

Yes, if you read all of my first post you'll seee me saying the post was a bit of a joke, but the talent tree swipe is sad stuff. Seeing as it is one of the worse character customization formats ever made, imo.

That is of course your opinion and thats fine, but you dont know that the specialized feat system AoC implements will be anything like what you have seen before because it is obvious you havent done much research.

However, for denying  the fact that its a snatch and grab you are labeled a "Con-head" (con sounds like cone). Im just joking saw others do other fanboy names today and well its just funny.

So if you make a thread with a bunch of stupid claims that the video you supply doesnt even support and we correct you we are fanboys?...

I don't know about the graphix when i see a city it looks very different , but when i see just a mob and the player out in the middle of a desert or forest it looks pretty similar. That being said, how much different can they be? (In otherwords, there will always be similarities). Heck in a few above post people call TR a wow clone , if ya ask me i think aoc has more graphical similarities to WoW than TR does....

This baffles me most, have you ever watched any AoC ingame videos? it doesnt look ANYTHING like WoW .... i just dont get how you can make that comparison? its completely insane, AoC is using realistic looking characters and WoW went for a cartoony look. characters look nothing alike.

Unfourtanetely we will see alot of WoW clones in the future. LOTR is a WOW clone, Tabula Rasa is a sci-fi WOW clone and WAR looks like it will be quite similar to Wow but I really hope AoC wont be but I wouldnt be too surprised if it turned out to be one.

Because what excactly defines a WoW clone? I would say a casual, linear, quest driven MMORPG with a tree type skill system and a controlled PvP environment where the devs decide where and for what you PvP for. Hm, sounds quite similar to both AoC and WAR.

Right now Chronicles of Spellborn and Darkfall are the only two games that most likely wont be WoW clones.

You might want to add "successful" to your definition as well.

CoSB and Darkfall (if that game is even real) will not be successful.

How can you even say that ? If a game like Darkfall hits the market as it is on paper now i think it would be a huge hit. It's a big group that looks for that kind of game, minority group but still a big group. I know the majority want "WoW like" games but what about the others ?

AoC a WoW clone? Now I've seen it all. That's like saying the Grim Reaper is a clone of Santa Claus.

Have you checked out WAR's graphics? Have you noticed any similarities? Hmm?
