Originally posted by Slovenc Not every mmorpg, but i think WAR will have one, because they are hyping the game up 24/7 so they probably will have one. Somebody knows it for sure? Or didn't they say anything about it yet? |

They have said that there will be an Open beta but not in the sense where anyone can sign up. It will be more along the lines of pre-order and get a beta key. |

Originally posted by ImpyrielThis is correct. I saw an interview where EA Mythc said that pre-orders and veteran newletter subscribers would be the only people getting into "open" beta. Most people who play open beta's are only looking for a free game to play. I'm glad they are reserving this open beta for people who have showed long-time interest in the product. |

Originally posted by WHCWrennI'm a newsletter subscriber since 2006, so i hope what you are saying is true. The second thing i highlighted is sad, but true. I want to play the beta, because i'm already following this game a year and i really want to see how it is, when i play the game. Since you know a lot about the open beta, do you also know when they are starting with the open beta? |

/Agreed I'm glad that they aren't making the open Beta a free-for-all. But since they most likely wont allow you to cary over your character from the open Beta to the Live version it will really just a nice way for the Devs to say "Thank you" to the community of people who have been following the game, let them get their feet wet early. |

I like to see an open beta in the last week before it goes live for one simple reason - it is a good time to give their hardware a true test and is a good way to give truely baptise their systems in fire. However, I do believe the open betas tend to be abused and pointless if they last any longer than a week. I would much prefer MMOs to have stictly closed betas as a rule. A closed beta can still involve many thousands of players so it provides the devs plenty of feedback. |
