Hi,

in a discussion thread about endgame-content on Lotro-forums (people were asking for some purpose to do quests after level 50) someone posted this:

...<give us> ... something like the village in SWG (without all the controversy) where you can trade combat exp in for permanent upgrades...

I played SWG like a year ago,  but can't remember that there was such a feature. If this really exist, this probably means the game content does not end with level 90, so i might give the game another try, but don't want to renew subscription only because of that post in lotro forums, without more info on this feature.

Can someone confirm that you can trade exp for permanent upgrades at lvl 90 ? If that's true, are there any caps on how often or how good the upgrades are ? Where can i find some more information on this issue ?

Thanks for your replies in advance.

It used to be that way, Before the NGE, but its now ruined, the game isnt even worth the time.

and besides, it wasnt for Permanent things, it was to Unlock the Jedi Class.

there was a feature like this before 2005. When you had to grind Jedi in the village of Aurillia, you could actually get extra upgrade slots before getting the title of Jedi. Some people (BH's for example) didn't even bother becoming jedi, but liked having the extra stats so they can have a better chance against them.

There was some limitations though.  For each box you unlocked, you had to free up a skill point so you could get it.  I think each box was worth 1 skill point so you'd have to give up 18 skill points to get all boxes.  Depending on what your template was, this could mean you'd need to give up some of your abilites.  Due to that, most only got enough so they could unlock Jedi.

Of course, back then questing didn't get XP.  Instead, killing things repeatedly was the only way to get XP.

You had to pay in 24 skill points (six complete FS branches, four skill boxes each) to be able to face Malichae, then go through the Padawan trial quests, then unlock your second slot and have your toon become a Padawan and able to start earning Jedi XP and training Jedi skills.

There were various flavors of FS skills, some purely combat, some like the vehicle skills and scouting skills that you earned via combat XP and converted weapons XP, some that actually used other types of XP that could be comverted, like scout, medical, and crafting XP, which fed into various FS skills usually related to the other skills you converted.  It was possible to become a Padawan crafter, for example, who used the Force to enhance crafting skills.

By far the easiest to convert were the combat and weapons XP, which fed into two different disciplines of FS skills, one set pure combat (melee and ranged) and the others sort of combat related. as mentioned before.  There was great controversey that it was difficult to tell if the FS skills actually did anything to help you...the Force luck line, for example, was next to impossible to determine if it had any affect.  The scouting line did have a visible increase in scouting skills, but wasn't earned with scouting XP.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

i can't remember them all but I know I did the Medic one as I got the Bacta Tank and I also did the Vehicle speed/turn one.  Also did the quest to get the 2/4 Aurillian sculpture which is apparantly the rarest peices of them all, I can't remember why though, heh.  Got the health crystal too and the survey tool but I can't remember what lines these all were associated with.

As for the skills working, I could tell the difference with the Vehicle mod thing - my AV-21 could turn a tighter circle.  Was a bitch to do though...all the driving and blown up swoops :|

I don't suppose you did the medical crafting quest did you?

It seems so few people actually did that one, whcih is quite unfortunate since it was an excellent crafting quest.

There  where 2 types of rewards, first were the reward for unlocking that branch ,these were for example theaurelian sculpture  or the incredible crafting tool or these healing plant. Then there was the reward from every box you trained  in shape of permanent bonuses

for only 8 SP you could get e.g :

+12  melee  Defense

+12  range Defense

Or for crafter's more intresting bonus in assembly success (i am not sure if even some experimentation bonuses  as well)

Aurelian village and quests was for everyone intresting thing.

The best mission/quest ever in a MMO i experienced there in Aurelia. That was  these "Capture the General" from village PHASE 3 .  Amazing Hell of a mission to complete (at least till workarounds and knowledge within the community on the server was built )

---find and loot the right droid bots that fit to that base (for the omega base you needed the codes from the omega droids), after 1 man started to interfere the signal the other had an hour to capture the general which wasn't easy  task (the elite Sith guards had 50k hp, with every timeyou failed an additional spawn of  elite guards appeared plus  you had so watch these litlte droids else the guards spawned on you)    , the 2 people with the mission had to stay alive and even if you captured the general you had to run back to Aurelia  hunted by the Sith  who built ambush to you and then you had these time limit of  only 1 hour else the general would poisoning himself---
Amazing mission !!! ...still know some names of the guys who helped me capture that general...

I LOVED that quest! It was one of the hardest, yet it was one of the most exicting in my opinion. It's such a shame though that it's been removed, thanks a lot SOE! Hope your happy with your crappy WoW NGE
