Well if you buy an actually physicall copy you are going to end up with 2 copies of the game. You could just order it or pick it up somewhere.

I have used direct 2 drive many times. Once you ordered a game and download it you can redownload as many times as you need to. Anytime.

as far as I know they dont offer physical copys.

Id say with in the next few years most distributions will be 100% or close to it. Its a lot more cost effective that way, and cd's and what not cant be lost.

Add to that pc stores are starting to fade into the back ground. Places like Gamestop and Compusa are either more about computer hardware or console games than they are about pc games.

Its sad really I miss the days of going to my local pc store and chatting with the guys about the new up coming games. Now its all OMFG did you see halo 14 is coming out next week! I cant wait!

ugh.

I'll give it a go I just hope I dont get screwed, I love Valves digital distribution but I trust them :)

The main problem is it being an 8 GB download which means after unpacking I need at least 16 GB free

Yea, it is a complete shame that game and electronic stores are not carrying PC games anymore. If the store has PC games, they have such a bad selection that it is kinda hit and miss that you find what your looking for.

It shows me that play stations and x box 360s are in higher demand than PC games thats all.

The problem that I have with downloading games is that even with a good ISP it takes a long time to download. And, you do not get what comes in the box. I really like getting the maps or other cool items that comes along with the retail box.

I think the best way to get games that you want is to order them online either through amazon or a game company. You get exactly what you want and plus the retail box with all the goodies.

You wont get screwed I have been using them for over a year and bout several hundred dollars worth of product. Worst issue I ever had with them was a slow download speed on one file one time.
