Ya, its not like you are a slave or anything, I guess you should have all this stuff as a slave huh?
Anyways Im done talking to you.

No apparently shane doesn't want to actually have to put effort into getting a strong character going....oh well and I agree DDT don't waste anymore time on Shane, you made some good arguements DDT..

Great even vep is agreeing with me now. I think I must have turned fanboi. ;)

Yup lol, two peas in a pod...called RV. ;P

IMO tho, if you are verming you shouldn't be considered a slave for long.  It should be those that don't that would have that label be harder to break. (through work in game) Another reason to verm.(if it was worth while that is, with better prices all arround NPC's included)

And Vep, I am complaining about prices not skill gains... You have to grind skills in any game. My only complaint about that is as it has always been, lack of players to train with, need a NPC sparing partner with limited gains using them per day.  (just to fill the gaps when noone is on and all you want to do is train a bit.)

But yeah I know the game world as we know it would collapse in upon itself and the economy would wither and dry up over night as the remaining 10 players eyes bleed out on their keyboards... LOL.

If the game is that fragile it has more problems than any of us realized before. (which may be the case)

Thanks Shane for not flaming in that response and showing actual game concerns. As for training if you are going Roman there are guilds that would be happy to take you as a member and help you train all the skills you want. I can speak for what Corstopitum the starting city will become after we all spread out when our GH's are built, but each guild I know for sure will still have a presence there as we will need recruits. So I think it's safe to say there will always be people in the arena to train. If you plan on flying solo it will be harder at time to find training partners, if you join a guild it will be no problem at all.

Prices for equipment is not that bad on the roman side i know if you join a guild like the 18th legio we supply our men with thier equipment they don't pay any out of pocket unless they can't wait the day or two it will take to make a more extravagant item like armor. Not sure about the freeman side but maybe DDT can cover that area.

Thanks

LOL not called flaming it's called agreeing.

And I did post concerns about the game as you tried to address them in your post you must have known that.

Have a guild tho don't need one to join. But not playing atm for reasons I stated many times now.

Never asked for handouts as I was a paying member of the community I should not have to look for handouts too bad this game is made so that that is your only option, as I will not.

After you are in TdB we pretty much give out anything they need. All TdB members help with other things though, so I dont know how well this guy would fit if all he wants to do is be like killer, running around doing raids on corst or something isnt what TdB wants, we wan someone that is a team player.
If we need ore, we expect people to help getting ore, if ore isnt your thing help in other ways, like getting firewood and making a pile, or help by adding items to a hut.

From what Ive gathered this guy believes that a guild is just going to give him stuff without him doing anything more then running around killing people. I think what he fails to understand is that joining a guild does 2 things, 1) brings people together to have fun and become close, 2) allows more skills, items and projects to get done with a team effort.
By just saying "I log in 2 hours a day and I want to go kill stuff, or only care about my skills" shows that someone like that isnt going to do well in TdB as we want members to think about the guild as a whole and not themselves.

So basic answer to your question is, I would say that TdB does hand out stuff, however, its not free really, it takes as much work to do it yourself as it would for a TdB member to get it free. Only diff is instead of working in many different skills like you would to do it on your own, you can work in a few skills that you like to do.

No, all i wanted to do was protect rome from the "killer" types. And partake in the wars that should have been happening in large scale by now...  You know armies marching in formations accross feilds of battle and all that that we "still" don't see in RV.

You obviously never listen, as what you "gather" about me is wrong. I have said tons of times I don't want handouts and am not a beggar.  I pay my own way thats why I vermed just not built in to the game period to work that way, thats where verm fails.

As for what guilds are for I know perfectly well, but you call that having fun together?

Yay! lets all get together and march the hour to the mine and watch the lame animation for gathering about 40 times then make the long boring trip back.... well that was fun guys see ya tomorrow same time...?

Sounds like loads of fun. Maybe RV should put that on their feature page as part of the excitement of RV?  Join RV you can have tons of fun gathering wood...

No thanks I have more interesting and actual fun games to play.

Ya it sucks to have to like talk to people and make your own events instead of being spood fed something in a straight line like other games. I mean heaven forbid that players make their own fun and events.

Some changes to Roma Victor since the last time I posted in this thread (early November):

A news digest was added that immediately reports events from all over the play field.  We now know things like who died where, who the new players are (been a lot recently), which guild completed a hall, who gets elected to a lord or magistrate position, etc.

More badges added like “convalescent” which limits skill decay if a player is killed two times in quick succession.  If a lord or magistrate pardons a criminal, they get the “merciful” badge.

Stone workshops and warehouses are now craftable.  Besides guild halls, these are currently the only other stone buildings that are craftable.  A small construction team (who have day jobs and R/L social lives to tend to) can build a workshop in about 10 days.

Changes to combat against or with NPC’s too numerous to list here the least of which is the great new animations the animals have.  Hunting goats, pigs, chickens, and cows must now be accomplished by groups of players working together.  Have not seen it myself yet but animal handling has been improved with there being a chance an animal can become friendly with a player.  They become tame at least for that player.  Players now have a better chance of gaining combat skills when fighting NPC’s.  In one short evening of fighting bandits I gained about 8 skill points of various kinds.  A lot more fun than just training against a player in the guild hall.

We now are given the names of players who are buying goods from our hired merchants.  Know your customer!

Beekeeping now fully implemented.  A hive of bees will take up residence in player-built apiaries – very cool animation btw.  Crops grown near apiaries have increased quality and players can extract honey from the apiaries to add to baked bread which gives additional buffs.  Players with low bees skill have a chance of getting stung if they try to extract honey.

Guild leaders can use guild treasury money to pay for masters/elders and agents to place on their guild controlled board.  No more spawning back at the starter town upon death and no more having to run back to the starter town to hire laborers, guards, and merchants.

Rain animation fixed.  No longer does the rain penetrate through roofs of buildings.  A nice snow animation was added but the snow does not accumulate on the ground.

Healing rate while out in the open has been greatly reduced.  A roman can heal quickest by staying inside their guild hall or a bathhouse.

No more glowing grass.  The nights are now quite dark and realistic.  My guildmates and I find ourselves using torches at night more often.

Laborers, in conjunction with handcarts full of material, can now be used to do bulk adds to resource piles or construction projects.  They can only add simple things though and they can’t use tools.  I did some testing and I can now build three firewood piles an hour using laborers instead of building one firewood pile in 90 minutes by myself.  What a morale booster this has been.

A very recent addition to the game is developer driven events.  The Pictish King Brudei showed up with 20 warriors to scout the 18th Legion’s home board and a large battle ensued.  Word is there is more of that to come.
