You heard right. As of today, SOE announced that Gods & Heroes will be cancelled until further notice. As sad as that sounds... well, it is sad. Atleast, this is the e-mail we got at EBGames today, from the head office. Apparently in a long list of info that SOE sent to head office today, they said Gods and Heroes was cancelled. I didn't even know Gods and Heroes was being published by SOE. I was so confused when I read this. Anyone else know anything about it? EDIT: I looked into it more, and it seems SOE does have involvement http://www.station.sony.com/pc.vm?sel=upcoming

Can you give the exact quote from the memo along with the origin at SOE that the memo came from? Its just that its hard to belive that PE and or SOE would send a memo out like this without issuing a press release giving some sort of explination for an action so drastic. Without a public statement from either, or both SOE and PE, it would be near impossible to prove a claim such as yours. If it is true, we would no doubt hear an official statement within the next few days.

Why is this not mentioned on the official site? I cannot believe they would cancel this game and allow a stinker like Vanguard to keep running. Or that Pirates thing. I've played or seen both betas, and G&H is far more polished than Pirates. But neither one is great. Frankly, I think they should cancel them all (G&H, Pirates, and Vanguard) and focus their marketing energies on a re-release of EQ. It's got more to offer than all 3 of those others combined, and with an updated game engine it would easily be the best game on the market. |

Lol i guess someone didnt tell Perpetual that since the beta is going really strong still :P I think the OP needs to get his sources straight. Or maybe SoE is no longer the publishing partner with Perpetual ( which is prolly a good thing IMO ) Besides that lol G@H is stil doing good atm. |

Well, this is a fairly serious prank if the OP is simply trolling. If he is trolling, don't be surprised if the thread gets deleted and to the OP, don't be shocked if you get banned.

Originally posted by Hexxeity SoE is publishing G@H and PotBS , NOT developing it so the most SoE can do is cancel their publishing contract with the developers of these games, its up to the developers if the games are going to be cancelled. Vanguard is a different story because they bought sigil's assests several months AFTER the game launched. Its good to know the facts sometimes before making blanket statements . |

Originally posted by theanimedude I think only the developer, aka Perpetual Entertainment, can cancel G&H. Also, G & H is on the upcoming games list and furthermore, you can actually pre-order G & H from the link you provided. I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time. |

The notification that ebgames got was that SOE was no longer acting as the publisher for gods and heroes. Old news. Aug 16: http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/setView/news/gameID/187/showArticle/8503 Previous: Perpetual developer. Perpetual and SOE co-publishers. ... transmitted on 100% recycled electrons ... |

Originally posted by ctzn99Yep, Perpetual dropped SOE as publisher a few weeks back. SOE will still be making the dvds and such and doing marketing, but no longer employed as full publisher. They have no real tie to PE now. I think the anti-SOE pressure from the community in general got to PE after awhile. Also, I think theanimedude just got a little confused. I've never known him to blatantly troll or pull pranks of this nature. So, everyone give the poor guy a break. |

I don't understand the hosility towards the OP... this is the RUMOUR forum afterall and the essence of a RUMOUR is that it doesn't come with hard evidence i actually thought the game looked quite good from the screen shots and general info provided, but all i have heard from beta testers is negative remarks. I don't think i've heard any praise for it... so i guess its no surprise if they did cancel it, or at least put it on hold until they see how PotBS turns out and how much of a fan base WAR/AoC get.

The reason you haven't heard anything good is something called an NDA..the people posting their comments don't give a flying fig anymore about losing access so they are blasting the game. The testers actually enjoying the game can't talk about it because they would then lose access and why lose access when your having a good time?
PotBS has NOTHING to do with G&H...different studio, different deal with SOE, and WAR/AoC are PvP centric games that will have nothing to do with the PvE-centric G&H
Until someone posts a press release that the game has been canceled, do not feed to fire. EB Games still has the game up for pre-order. If they take it off and start emailing their customers that it's going south, then I'd be curious. |

I thought it had potential, but the implimentation was off. I was in the beta, and this announcement came seemingly from nowhere. I cant log in to it anymore, so it must be true. |

Well, I'd say the NDA no longer applies,eh? I was in the beta, and bit my tongue many times to keep from talking about the game here. While the graphics were nice, that's about the only good I can really say about it. Boring quest, the "minion" system was poorly thought out and under-done (everyone had the same minions with the same names and you couldn't rename them because then other people wouldn't know which minion they were facing in RvR There was very little incentive to group. Although I'm a soloer by nature, I do like to group up once in awhile for variety or to take on a heavy "boss" mob. Didn't need to do that with minions with you. As far as the state of the overall game, to me it was more of an alpha than a beta. Just too many simple problems that kept turning into big ones. Well, after all I seen in beta ( when the client wasn't crashing every 2-5 minutes), I now stand by my early assessment of PE, (which I had hoped would have been changed by G&H). They just don't have the ability or experience, IMHO, to make a game for todays market that would be anything other than the same, tired crap that's already out there. |

I would like to thank the flamers, for letting me know that I was right. More flaming always means your post is right, lol. Bad news, but glad to know I could bring it to the site first =P
