Always look on the bright side of life. (whistle)

I started EQ in 2000 and played off and on as real life allowed me until about a year ago.  I really stopped playing heavily about 2 years ago.  After spending so much time in Norrath I really love the lore and people in the world.

I tried playing Everquest II the week of it's release, but my PC wasn't really fast enough, plus the game was so different that I was a bit turned off.  But then years later I tried it again and well I stuck out the learning curve and really started to like it.

Everquest is an amazing game, and the hardcore playstyle and great gameplay mechanics make it a classic.  But I really think Everquest II, while a bit different, is also a amazing game.  And I had to take a step back and enjoy the game for what it is, not what I think it should be and really really enjoyed it.

Everquest II has really streamlined the UI.  Everquest II has Heritage Quests which rewards you with fabled items such as the Flowing Black Silk Sash, Ghoulbane, Stein of Magog.  With Rise of Kunark there will be Epic Quests for all 24 classes.

I am not saying you should leave EQ1, but maybe if you are looking for something new to play, try EQ2.  Keep an open mind and once you start doing dungeon crawls it will feel more like EQ1.

The only big downside to EQ2 is that the death penalty is very light.  I think the original shard system and group exp debt was brilliant.

Wow an SOE fanboi, I thought those had all but extinct.  But good for you.  I really loved EQ as well and did't like EQ2 when it first came out but went back to it with the Echoes expansion and really enjoyed it for a while.  The only problem I really had with it was I never saw a lot of people and sometimes groups were hard to find, even as a healer.  I don't know if maybe I played on a lighter populated server but I just wasn't feeling it although I had a lot of fun with my class.
