So, what in mmorpgs, gives you that adrenaline rush, that surge of chaos and hot blood through your veins? For me its alot of pvp moments, WoW has alot for me, also, playing a healer does it to me all the time. Playing a tank does sometimes too, specially if the healer isn't too quick with their fingers. :D Anyway so what does it for you? |

First off let me thank you for posting an awesome topic idea that hasn't been overdone! Now, anytime you participate in a large scale battle I get that feeling. No matter if it is PVE or PVP, knowing I am taking part in an active battle where there are mass amounts of mobs or players always gives me a rush. |

Definitely the castle sieging in Lineage 2 when you and hundreds of others are battling it out either trying to defend or siege. |

For me it was when i first enter a open pvp game with all those red dots and i was killed. But my best was when i did a dungeon run we planned on doing a run on a sunday afternoon some how enemy got ear of it prolly a spy and when we all group by a outpost we already saw spys at far distance and say come on lets do run if they come we fight them off and still kill boss:P So we enter dungeon through portal but everybody can enter its not a instance, asheron calls and also l2 dont have instance is all open for pvp!. And we start fighting of mobs but when we did first section they came while we fight a mini boss it was a big war in there we had to kill mobs inside and had to deal with enemey clan, alot die offcorse and we did 5 attemps to finish dungeon but enemy clan did not give up so after 4hours of fighting we had to give up becouse some had to leave but it was one of my best adraline rushes ive ever had in a mmo:) Many chases through towns (no saves zones:))and areas around it to be chased by enemy when running on mount and fast try get clan mates to come in time to save you man i love those moments:) |

Doing something for the first time is exciting, instances, quests, dungeons, raid bosses etc. But the problem I find with PvE is it lacks the variance required to keep giving me that adrenaline surge. So I PvP, a lot of times I get the Adrenaline Surge from a good well thought-out fight, even if I lose. Getting ganked or fighting a hopeless battle offers no adrenaline for me. The Arenas in WoW are amazing, you never know what your going up against and dying means losing, theres no waiting 30s to respawn. I can't play the WoW Arenas late at night anymore because the Adrenaline I get keeps me up til 4-5am. |

For me it was Ultima Online and as much as I hate to admit it... being out in the wild and getting the "so and so is attacking you.." message. |
|
| "We already have two operating MMOs. We launched a game called Ultima Online in 1997. It's still got hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Then there's Dark Age of Camelot, we also have a situation where we have well over 100,000 subscribers." -Frank Gibeau of Electronic Arts. Does it seem odd that UO has more subscribers than the best RvR game on the market? |

I lose more stars than a hollywood speedball convention. |
I lost the ability to get the rush off a mmo to be honest, they are too slow to raise my combat nerve to the next level. One day maybe.. I get it alot facing a Nazi on DoDsource knowwing the guy can twitch and fire that K faster than my garand but thats a fps. I was really hoping Tabula would do that for me but alas...FPS all the way.
Though UO's pvp used to give me a rush when I knew I was near dead and the otherguy was going to get my hally/kris/whatever, I just couldn't stand the thought haha so I'd get pumped up and to this day was only pk'ed 1 time in my whole pre-tram era. Good times. |

Don''t mock me my friend. It''s a condition of mental divergence. |
I wouldn't describe it as an adrenaline surge as much as a sense of awe mixed with elation. But, I realy enjoy large battles, no matter what the rule set is, seeing army clash with army and fighting as you see your comrades fall around you. Eluding an enemy group, after being chased through the forest ( or other terrain). Scouting ahead and relaying information, all the while remaining unseen. Surviving an area filled with scary and dangerous monsters. Valiantly sacrificing myself fighting a horde of players or monsters, while my team safely escapes. Finding a hidden area that few have seen.
In general things fit for epic movies. |

I play healer classes mostly and I always got that surge when i was able to get off that heal at the exact second a teammate was going down for the count. Ive actually timed it several times to where the heal landing at the same time they began the death animation. lol fun fun!
