Hi all, just some speculation here, and having a bit of fun. We all have our favorite IPs, which would you like turned into a MMORPG, and if ya want expand on what the mmorpg would have, i.e. sandbox elements, skill based, level based, quests, etc. Mine are the following: Wheel of Time (book series by Robert Jordan) SO much lore to use, very large world, combining EQ2 and WoW and FFXI systems. Sword of Truth (book series by Terry Goodkind) could be a more action oriented game, with tons of mmorpg elements. Firefly (although I hear they are working on this one) Warhammer 40,000 (another possible in the works?) Forgotten Realms (with the likes of Icewind Dale and an extreme amount of books to use as lore this could be awesome, as long as it isn't like D&D Online in anyway) Dragonlance (same as above, but different company different feel) Dune (book series by Frank Herbert) scifi all the way, I know lots are chomping at the bit for a scifi mmorpg. Well, that's my top IPs minus a few that are already mmorpgs or are being made (i.e. Star Trek and Star Wars) even though they could visit these 2 again and make even better mmorpgs. |

Shadowrun - aint gonna happen tho, unless M$ sells the license to someone who sees the potential of the IP as an MMO. |

Id like to see a MMO based on Battletech / Mechwarrior in a real sandbox environment. players designing their own mechs and facilities and fighting in pvp for control of resources and military outposts, if done right, would be the only MMO I'd ever need
And id have to agree with the person who said there are too many fantasy MMO's. Well not really too many, but too few of every other genre. Im all for variety, even within a genre. |

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I''m not sure about the former. |
Really, except for the first two, I don't really want to see IP in MMO's. They always seem to make crap games and just use the name to suck in the fans. |

It would be cool to see a Dune MMORPG. The Sword of Truth and Wheel of Time, both good series, would be difficult to make into an MMORPG because there is such a huge focus on the main characters and not so much on the world. The main problem with the Dune franchise is that it takes place over thousands of years. What period would they use? Would players go against the Tyrant Leto II, or would it be set during the reign of Shadam IV or Paul Muad'dib? |

Someone correct me on this if I'm wrong, I'm pulling this from some vague memories from years ago. But didn't the old D&D planeswalker stuff allow you to travel between the different worlds? That would be the way to go I would think for D&D if so. Allowing people to move between Dark Sun - Forgotten Realms - Dragonlance -Ravenloft, would be a pretty good way to create a successful Fantasy MMO. Although I am also tired of the Fantasy Genre. I am anxiously awaiting any news about the WAR 40K game in development. And a Battletech or Mad Max MMO would be awesome also. But like I said I may be wrong on my D&D memories, I've killed a lot of brain cells with beer since then. |
