Heres some of my questions

Can you walk on planets or are limited to ship combat only?

Can you walk inside space stations as well?

Basically I just want to know if this is limited to space ship combat only or can you walk around and fight too with guns or whatever?

Well I havent read all the stuff on it yet...I did play the original Jumpgate. It was very much like EVE is today. Not sure if you will be able to exit your ship into space stations and alike.

Quote me not!

Oh wow..true enough Jumpgate had it's hayday but to the devs, you might want to rethink before embarking on this.  what made jumpgate special back in the day is now a simple application for most if not all space games.  It's like seeing RuneScape back with vengence!  with the market like it is theres just no way.  best of luck to you though.

I know I would enjoy a modern game of that nature.

Keep in mind that they are not under the gun from a publisher. This is a developer published game. There are plent of people that want a nice looking game like EVE but where you don't have to take a bus between stations. Just being able to fly the ship freely is what always sold me.

There is no info about that for now.

It is not only space ship combat, there is mining, economy, travel, transport...

I launch a discussion about planet docking, but it's only for suggestion and ideas parts of JoystickRequired forums.

Well, from what's known at the moment, it's simple to compare to EvE but it goes much deeper than that... Jumpgate was the first space MMO ever, and these guys have been running it for years and have the experience to know what people want. This new one, Evolution, is (obviously) an upgrade with better graphics and AI, but it's the accessibility that's to change the meaning of current-day space MMOs. EvE is largely concentrated on economy and is a point-and-click style of strategy and combat. Jumpgate Evolution is supposed to be a more "jump in the cockpit and take off into space to kick some butt" type of game, naturally with all other aspects of what makes MMOs fun (economy, rankings, leveling, community, etc.) that the original Jumpgate is built on. I think these guys have something special in the works here...

So would it be safe to compare jumpgate to some sort of synergy between EvE and the space part of the current SWG? - EvE's economics/politics/etc/etc, swg's flight system/componants/etc ?

you cant compare this game to others as it is special:p

seriously, SWG JTLS is not a quality space game.

JG EVO will beat any other space game concerning combat, pvp and pve. I dont know how economy in Eve works, cause Im not much into that, but I have heard just great things. But for me Eve is boring cause there is no adrenalin in combat.

i liked the economy in eve, when i played it. there is great potential in eves economy because it is gigantic. i always felt like really running a company in eve. but as long as i played it, there were many tools for the companies, that just did not work. simple things, like telling the profit of a month, were just not implemented. this was combined with much work - soon i felt like really working, which was no longer fun to me.

jumpgates economy was/is simple, but smart. i liked the combination of station production and player production and the faction wide production projects. i like it simple, that does not have to mean boring in my eyes. i believe that jge will profit much through a bigger universe concerning economy, and i believe, that it will be much bigger than the jgc-universe, at least i hope it.

But the most important thing for me is the realistic physic of jg. when i started playing, i trained 3 days in the simulator how to dock. for many players this was too hard/annoying - i think this is meant, when netdevil says, that they want to make jge easier to learn/get in.

i always loved jumpgate and i was sad, when the server in europe was shutdown. eve could not fill that great gap for me. so i am looking forward to jge and i am happy about every bit of information about it.
