"I'm not a Kunou groupy!"
-- Kunou groupy

I've submitted the following ideas to Mythic, how do you all feel about them?

I just read a E3 sneak preview on Catacombs and it inspired me with five suggestions for it... :o)

1. Haunted Keep of the Doomed
One or two keeps in the far zones (Cursed Forest and Bog of Cullen i.e.) that only appear at 00:00 gametime and disappear at 03:00, with random instanced content (and layout) where you will have to fight your way to the exit because you cant exit where you entered with a chance of coming accross other realm parties (midguard/albion) approx. equal to your groups total lvl. In day time it could be a graveyard you cant enter or something (to prevent the keep appearing on top of you)...

2. Fully customizable toon looks
This might allready be in it... but it would rock to be able to customize your toon physicals sort of like it is in CoH. So that truly no one is identical.

3. No pops in instanced environments
It would be nice to have no pops in the instanced evironments so that you would really need to move through instead of just camping like it is now. A completion bonus when getting out could compensate for the lvl-ing ability provided with camping.

4. Quest system
Instead of having to talk to everyone to obtain quests it would be a real pro if a npc just walked up to you to ask you to do something. If players dont like to quest they could set their mood to grumpy (or just /quest off) or something so that they would not be addressed.

Also current quests are very much travel for 4/6 hours real time all over the place, kill a little this or that with extreme vague descriptions on what to do or kill something thats not there but will only pop after so much kills of this or that and you would really need a cheatsheet to succesfully complete the quest (a great example of this is the Hib quest you obtain at the top of the tower near Tir Urphost that starts with getting the heart of the grey man (which was a wreath) i only completed this quest through the use of a cheat sheet, also some parts of the lvl 40 BM epic are just as horrible. I like questing but i hate having to use cheatsheets in order to be able to do them that just takes the fun out of it. Ask anyone without cheatsheet to complete either mission and you'll see that they wont be able to complete it. Also doing an Epic quest and saving Hibernia by killing this uber mob but getting killed a little later on or bumping into him again well that just blows away the entire fun or use of even doing it in the first place...) Also quests seem to be a lot like kill this, that, bring this there kill more and are not very entertaining because of it.

I know it would require someone truly creative to be able to come up with great other things to do that would people just wanna quest more and more and in all honesty im not your man... :o) But for instance if your guild owns a keep it could come under attack from disgrunteled fallen souless hiberians that take the keep lord hostage and the guild would need to liberate him from the lord room by making them happy i.e by having a rememerance ceremony in the keep. Also realm quests would be nice, for instance if all keeps are lost then a realm quest kicks in, realm in turmoil for instance where something nees to be done within the realm by all realm players online and that they will get an army of NPCs in return which will help them get their keeps back for instance...

5. Shareable xp in BGs
It would be nice to be able to have a xp option on the BGs as well in order to share xp over a BG i.e.
/bg xp on
/bg xp off

This to enable groups larger then 8 peepz for xp-ing reasons... (i.e. fg of 50-s with bg-ing a fg of low levels for pl reasons).

Cheers,

Doc

Hey Doc,

I DEFINITELY Like #s 2 and 3!  One of the biggest complaints I've seen from people trying out DAoC is the lack of customizability for their toons.  No doubt this would be a huge improvement.

Removing the ability to "Camp" a spot would CERTAINLY even out the playing fields for xp.  I really like that idea because for some levels - it almost seems like you can't get any XP if one of four or five spots is already camped. (Thank god it still isn't as bad as EQ though) :)

As far as #4 goes - I think that an overall to provide better info and instructions for quests would be great, but I wonder how, in a MMO, you would make the Epic Quests diff than they are.  Imagine the literally thousands of combinations you'd have to go through to ensure every Druid, BladeMaster, and Mentalist got a different Quest objective...

Cheers on your thoughts though!
