Think of something witty and pretend that I typed it in this spot :) |
Posted simply to quell some of the "community" issues that some new players are having, I invite you all to come and play on the "Shidreth" server where you will find a knowledgable and friendly community eager to see some new people. Simple words of advice on how to have a good time on this server. If you want to be in a guild, join one for a while before attempting to creating one. Guild leadership here and anywhere else should not be attempted unless you already have a strong knowledge of the content and how the game works and would be a disservice to the community as a whole. Speak up! Don't be shy and don't try to go it alone or even with one partner. There are fantastic opportunities for fun and some good ole fashioned socializing but the solo or duo team that does not attempt to take part in them will grow bored quickly. Communication is the key and there are a lot of people eager to answer your questions or call you bad names if you so desire so get in on the fun and try to enjoy the WHOLE game. Talk to people about any technical issues you may be having. Weaker PC's can still run the game (often with less issues) in performance mode and even in this mode the game still looks good enough to enjoy. If you are a tradeskiller, join the craft channel, it is always hopping. Finally, don't get discouraged. Depending on the paths you take there may be slow times, times where it is difficult to find a group that is doing what you are doing and times where there may not be people to talk to. Steps 1 and 2 do a lot to allieviate this symptom but nothing can combat a new game with challengingly long quests on such an expansive scale. In cases where the quest area you have decided to work in is poorly populated, take your time, do the solo and small group quests and talk to every person you see. Shout about it, tell people where you are and what you are working on. A lot of this game is still very undiscovered to a lot of people. You can help by alerting them via linking quest rewards in your LFG requests and being willing to work with the people you meet to get on the same page. When all else fails, take a break. During the times when things are hot you will probably be putting in a lot of time so allow yourself to enjoy the downtime when you can. Remember, the game is wider than it is tall, therefore there is no reason to rush through levels but more of a reason to explore the content. There are many areas of the game that have still not been fully explored and more content to be added as the time passes so.... Settle in, get acquainted, and have some fun. Shidreth is a PvE server with dualing rules (just for the record).

Good post. Shidreth is an exceptionally friendly and helpful community. If you are new to the server, give Hypnus a tell if you are interested in test driving a guild as Alliance of the Griffin is recruiting. |
