...*note I'm not saying this is a bad game etc etc, keep the flames to a min*... "MacArthur also told us about the game’s plans to allow players to determine the kind of server that would be played. They will not designate a RP server, but rather will allow players, again through their actions, to determine each server’s attributes." To me that just reads, we won't give you a RP server so you'll just have to put up with "LOLZ NOOB RPERZ" and "THIS ISNT A RP SERVER I CAN CALL MYSELF WAT I WANTZ" in shout. Not that it ever makes much difference, but I guess I like to know where all the other roleplayers are.

It depends really... I mean WoW, GW, and alot of current mmorpgs have bad game design and it brings out the worst in people...

I haven't played LOTRO, but I hear they have a decent community, probably due to the design of adventures and community stuff... But if I'm wrong and LOTRO has a rotten community then disregard my post

However, from my experience, the design really does influence the way people act... You may still get the jackass every once and awhile, but no where near games like WoW or GW... So then, it really isn't all that necessary. I can sort of understand that you want everyone to act as if they lived in the game (even though I would suggest using suspension of disbelief and hope it works for those people), but I guess they're also worried about management of such servers, because all sorts of problems can arise due to population size/ratio or whatever...

If the community really wants it, and continue to voice their concerns when beta comes out, then I suppose they might eventually put it in...

Don''t Panic!!!!

Its an MMORPG. All servers are RPG servers by default. They should make special servers for people who don't want to RP.

I realy think that the new ideeas that Ncsoft have for this game r very nice and i can say that i have never seen a game to have that futures in it.Hunting in one area for litle dragons that in time, depending of how much the people will hunt in that place, will disaperar and respown new mobs much hard to kill bether lot to recive.AI of the mobs will be very high from what they say.

Or the 3 npc faction that will take action randomly at the castle siege...i mean come one it is somthing new and probably peaople will love it.

I trust Ncsoft becouse i have seen some movies about this game and it will be close to L2 but much more bether.PVE is realy cool with nice skils,PVP is very diferent from L2 the movies about it r promising....but will will see that in beta.

Good, 1 less roleplayer to ruin our fun.

The enemy is so dumb! They believe that WE are the enemy! - A famous orc commander.

The servers rules and setting should be determined before a player choose it.

Telling the players the servers will be adapted according to the players on them, this is BS.  It is running away from your responsability and allowing the fact that players have no ideas what their servers will be like.

Changing the rules AFTER you join a server is never a good idea, not even if the majority of players want it.  The rules, once set, have to be abide to.

See, once the rules are pre-established, the players can go play on whatever server they prefer.  If they rather join their friend on another server, they have no right to change the rules there even if they are a majority, since they choose to join a server with other rules where his friend is playing.

Determining the rules after, or changing them...this will lead to unhappiness and subscribtions cancellation.  Even if you abide by the majority.  If a majority of players would prefer the rules on another server, nothing prevent them from joining that server.  They pick another setting for ANY reason (I know, I am damn sexy and attract peoples), well, they have to abide by the local rules.

This is a little as if...the immigrants in California would now vote to join Mexico and quit the US.  Well, this is not acceptable, even if they are the majority, can't care less.  They willingly join a setting which is different.  End of the debate.

No pre-set RP-server from start is not the best of ideas, I'll sign to that. I won't join it before those servers had been sorted out (if I'll join it all)

Btw has NC soft ever had a game with official rp-servers?

No, I don't think so. I think they go along with the MMORPG thing, the games already are RP. Thats where I picked that up from. It was in the interviews of an NCSoft game years ago.

They felt it was redundent to put special Role Playing servers in a Role Playing game. You guys are not thinking outside of the box, this game genre belongs to roleplayers FIRST not non-roleplayers. They are classed RPG's. That means they are already RP.

Are non- Role Playing servers still MMORPG servers or just MMOG's? (and there is a difference)

First thing to do is then to Define Roleplaying. Is it roleplaying just to play a character in your game other then yourself (I've played Mario in super mario bros)  then yourself? Is the roleplaying thing just to get to new levels or get new skills?

I think that those that complain over the lack of RP-servers have another outlook on how to define RP. Maybe the hardcore Roleplayers should find another word for their gamestyle to make that clear, I don't know. But that would make all kids who jump over to RP-servers to make fun of roleplayers learn a new word, and I'm not sure that they can handle that.
