Beautiful night tonight, wouldn''t you agree?

You know why i think they are taking so long, i will tell you why at least i think. I am extremely hyped for this game myself, have only been folloing it for a month. Anyway, to the point, all good mmorpg's (such as wow) actualey take around 6 years to develop them. Adventurine sa made a simple mistake being a first time game studio. They made the simple mistake of announcing the game to early, right when they got started. Other big game companies like Blizzard waited to announce that wow even existed into about 3 years of development, so they did not actualley finish much faster than you would think. It is basiclly an illusion that goes against adventurine studios and was a mistake they made. Not to mention that at the moment, adventurine only have 2 dozen employeys and had to create all new technology from scratch to even begin the game developing process. Many games take a very long time to create, and were pukked back several times to a later release date, like darkfall is trying to do. ie= half life, legand of zelda (wii) and several other games . This is my educated guess on what has happened with this game so far, please feal free to respond.

I agree

Even old  MMOs took about 6 years to develop, as you said...so think of all new features nowdays.

So its better to work two extra years to get it right, then to do some Vanguard release shit

No, they didn't take 6 years to develop.

Dark Age of Camelot took 2 years.

Shadowbane took 4 years.

They all took much less than 6 years.

This game has been in development for 7 years  and they don't even have a projected release date yet. Which means release is at least another year away. That means at least 8 years of development.

How long are we supposed to wait for this game?

ACTUALLY...if you ever knew anything about DAoC...They were working on that game for about 5 Years before they had a Box Release.  Maybe 2 Years from the date they announced the game..I have a GamePro Magazine from 1997 And there are Screenshots and a Blurb about Dark Ages of Camelot.  The Game was released in 2000...so that is AT least 3 years..

Shadowbane was garbage...its no wonder it only took them 4 years....

And if you think blizzard only spent 3 years on WoW, your sadly mistaken...I also have a gamepro from 1999 With World of Warcraft in it.

These games have all been discussed and have been talked about in gaming magazines 2-3 years before release.

Now, I will agree 7 years for this game is pretty sad.  To keep up with future releases, they will need to re-vamp the whole graphical system, throw in some more evoloutionary designs, and keep the combat different from other games.

No, they didn't start developing it until 1999, see link

So wich of those MMOs had all features that DF will have??

DF have the features of two normal MMOs. Thats why it takes time.

I mean, just take a look at PotBs......naval combat. Big part of that MMO. Its been over 5 years of development

AoC, 4.5 years of development....and they have mouinted combat.

Now lets talk about DF.......they have all features from all good MMOs. So it will take time

They don't have RvR and Spaceships

Well I dunno, Trailer and Featurelist sounds great, but that's nothing different to all other MMORPGs out there... Vanguard looked good on Paper as well... I just can't see it successfully merging everything together...

But since it'll take another 2 years of development anyway, I'll be stuck with WAR

Why would you need RvR when you have FFA PvP?

And Vanguard didnt look good on paper. Many of my carebear friends followed that one for years.'

Hmm, and nothing special with all DF features??      Good one!

Maybe your right, but I do have an OLDER gamepro with it in it. From Pre-release.

Same with WoW.  I do know they were in development for a little bit longer than actually thought/said.

Most games with as long a period of development as DF has would have something concrete to show for it.

DF doesn't.

Hence all the discussions about "vaporware"......

Not flaming, just pointing out the obvious. The Dev's could easily show us more of the game ( if there *is* a game ) and end rumors with a simple view. They don't, and that makes normal p
