Short and simple. One kill per 24 hour real day. Winner picks one item of their choice from ANYTHING the loser is carrying, bagged or not. Use that attack and your kill for the day is spent, thus you must decide if you are going to use your ability to fight one another agressively or defensively every day. Use your kill to smack that guy who really deserved it in the mouth today, lose your opportunity to help out a friend who has been attacked by someone else today. Defend as many times as you are personally attacked but unless someone has hit you personally, the only way you are going to be able to get involved in a player vs player fight is to spend your daily kill. I don't know, I think it would give a little more substance to the concept of pvp when applied to what is supposed to be an immersive game. Of course this is not meant to replace other rulesets but instead to just be a new way of doing things.
Call it, what you want, I think it would be a nice improvement for the PvUndecided folks. What do you all think? |

Selling Propane and Propane Accessories in a MMORPG near you. |
Casuals and the so called "carebears" will never consent to having their items lootable by other players in PvP.
Personally I love PvP, in addition to countless FPS's I usually won't even consider an MMO unless it has decent PvP. However I don't like the idea of being able to loot another player's items/money. For the simple reason that it encourages gank squads and griefing and discourages all but the hardcore from PvPing - and we've seen how well hardcore PvP MMO's have done. *cough* Shadowbane *cough*. There's a reason it's F2P now. |

personally, i think only allowing one pk per day isn't a great idea because you are discouraging people from pvp. read the darkfall faq if you want to see a good pvp system "idea". |

Sorry, that idea will never fly, most pvpers don't want item loss, those that do certainly would never consent to one kill a day, how absurd. |

After leveling up/training skills I spend my time PvPing because thats what I enjoy. So basically your saying log on for five minutes kill someone and the fun is over? |

I play a online game where you lose EVERYTHING you had on your person when you get killed which I LOVE! cos death actually means something besides losing a few xp and waking up in a temple. which leads to sweaty palms and an increased heart rate when engaged in pvp. edit:-> Yes I have lost some very expensive stuff and I stopped playing for a few days cos it hit me quite hard, but in the end I always come back for more |

In reply to everyone who has responded thus far... This wouldn't be a rule set for those who play the games simply for the enjoyment of random and uninhibited mass murder, nor would it be a rule set for those who shy away from any player vs player confrontation all together. There is a need though for a set of rules that would allow those who want both a pvp and a pve expereince to have fun though. I am just proposing a more thoughtful rule set to promote a real sense of danger and respect among players looking for a more realistic experience in their games. A set of rules that allow choices to be made and that would have consequences attached would, in my mind, bring a sense of responsibility to the act of fighting another player. Sure, there are still going to be hordes of wanna be tough guys running around in packs trying to gank people for their gear, but with this rule set they will become less like an overwhelming horde of carrion and more like the highwaymen and rogue squadrons they were meant to represent. Current rule sets do not address the topic of pvp nearly enough to provide a player with a realistic balance of environment and player vs player interaction. That is why the pvp folks and the pve folks have seperated into factions and barely even play the same games at all anymore. I think that there is a place for both factions in a good game but there has to be a system in place to keep the more base instincts of those who would exploit their own freedoms (on both sides) from creating a world where pvp is the only threat or one where pvp is no threat at all. I don't like a carebear (who can tend to be an idiot because the rules allow them to) any more than I like a squads of FPS'er (who can tend to be idiots just because the rules allow them to) playing in my RPG world of choice. This rule set could, and would do a lot to do away with both factions and put everyone on a more even playing field. Of course, there will still be tears LOL. But there should be in any decent representation of a world.

The problem is pixel crack. Pixel crack kills. Say you still had items in your game; but none of them of any value and very easy to come by- hence no pixel crack... ok... but now what's the point of the game? The PvP right? I just don't think people are ready for MMORPGs without pixel crack yet. I play FPS games- so i couldn't care less... but most of these folks playing MMORPGs need to accumulate massive amounts of "rare" or "valuable" virtual items so they can feel better about themselves. |
