I cannot state confidently whether the population is increasing or decreasing. I can only speak anecdotally, and that is people I know have resubscribed to the game, mostly due to the server mergers and anticipated performance improvement. I know another person building a new PC right now and going to resub.
In terms of an incline, I was referring to SOE's energy, effort, and resources to fix bugs (they just fixed 309 in a recent patch), improve performance (word is that the next patch or Update 2 will help a great deal - and have performance boosters in raid content), and complete unfinished parts of the game (such as raid content for end-game). |

Who did wrong? The advertiser hired to sell the game or the consumer who put faith in advertising? |
Originally posted by sololoco I just wonder why you feel the need to re-hash this argument ever so often...you haven't given us any new info. What new idea did you bring to the table in this post? Did you find that these forums were sorely lacking in 'low population' threads? My guess is that for what ever reason you continue to post Vanguard hate, those reasons are unhealthy. |

Yup the game is in serious decline right now or to put it midly in stagnation. I see no evidence of massively rising population figures which this game obviously needs. The patches so far seem to be minor things and there appears some opinion as to whether the patches have helped.
A big piece of evidence will be when the game is much improved SOE will launch a free trial or free 30 days for exsiting people. Its sorely needed but theres no way around it, VG has lost too many people. There is the possiblity I guess that the game may truely die. It all depends on the next 12 months really., too early to say right now.
But either way its a long slow haul for this game and its maybe at any point ( we are a fickle lot sometimes!) to be eclipsed by other titles released to a higher standard. Sad in some ways but I tihnk VG needs to be a good example to the industry of releasing rough MMO's and using the fact its an online game to improve it later. Its a bad habit. |

Originally posted by KariTR I do not see how SOE is "dumbing" the game down at all. LOL.
And the Team PvP ruleset, you mean? Team PvP does not work in Vanguard, and it will never work; it was tacked on, at the last minute by SIGIL Corp., on top of a PvE game. I am the wrong person to ask, and argue with, about Team PvP. |

I log on about once every two or three weeks and play for a little while, just to see how things are going. I tried two days ago and got killed in a lag storm. Then I played last night and the oddest thing happened...I had fun. For the first time since launch, I actually enjoyed the game. Admittedly, it was largely because I like diplomacy and crafting and did more of that than fighting, but it was actually enjoyable. The team really has been trying. I hope that they can get the game in order so they can relaunch, but they better do it quickly, because they will face stiff competition from WAR and AoC. |

I played diplomacy for a long time as well and enjoyed the starting lines and the later quests then writs however the insane grind of civic diplomacy eventually killed my enthusiasm for it. It's mindnumbingly boring and you have to sit at it forever to get skill ups plus they add the presence requirements you need to do the quests which you have to get through the mind numbing the civics again. I was really into diplomacy for all the promised features but I doubt they show up for a long time if ever, the markets player run cities etc. |

Originally posted by Enigma No kidding, now that is interesting. I always thought that could be a decent game, also felt that EQII was under rated. However Vanguards core design sucked in my opinion. I don't know if they can pull this one from the fire or not, they almost need to pull a mini NGE on it. Fast travel, make a easy way to find and form groups, more solo content , performance optimization. The "needs to be done" list goes on and on. |

Umm Vanguards core design is an extension of EQ2... So how can EQ2 be underrated and VG suck? |
