SOE has announced that the recently postponed abandoned structure demolition event has been scheduled for Friday June 22.

The House Pack Up begins on Friday, June 22, 2007! The Galactic Vacant Building Demolitions Crew will be ready to begin demolition this Friday after a brief maintenance period at 12:00 PM PDT.

Any house, factory, or player association hall that has been abandoned by its owner (since April 16, 2006) has been targeted for pack up. The building sign is marked in red as "Abandoned" to indicate the structure can be demolished.

Once you see the sign with the red "Abandoned" text, open the radial menu and choose "Structure Management > Pack Up This Building" to initiate the bombing. You can pack up a maximum of five buildings every 24 hours.

If your building has been packed up, you will find it in your datapad when you return to the galaxy. Simply unpack your house in a new location and the structure will be restored with your possessions inside.

Civilians who mark ten buildings for destruction receive the Junior Wrecking Crew Worker Badge. Hard-working citizens who clear out 50 abandoned structures are recognized for their destructive talents with the Wrecking Crew Manager Extraordinaire badge.

When the servers suddenly look a lot less populated from a structure point of view, they may well regret having done this.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

What seems sad about this announcement is that there once was a great thriving game, but has become something far less than thriving.  To announce that they are doing a pack-up, it seems to me that the vacancy is far greater than just a few people leaving.

Although I never got into SWG as much as the people who frequent these boards...  but from an outsider looking it, its a sad day to see what your game has become.

As a Crafter, I hated CU but stayed for my Guild/  When NGE hit I left the game for they outright took my professions usefulness out of the game. After a year in a half exile I was talked back into the game and found that I am actually having fun in it again,  it is not what it use to be, but I am having fun and I am not forced into large raid groups.  The House Pack up will be a good thing for those who are playing, it will allow older cities to move citizens within the city borders and see younger cities to move up the ladder to higher levels.

I will start worrying about the server mergers when they start offering free character transfers from specific servers.

Whether the CU or NGE happened or not, this is something that would have been needed anyway. The game is 4 years old, any game of this age will have old baggage, just that in the case of SWG this baggage has been visible in the form of old structures. It's not the big deal that many are trying to make it out to be...

It''s one thing to have a opinion, but enforcing one is unconstitutional.

Yeah i agree. There is alot of buildings that have been abaddond and little towns too. so this is good thing. my only grip with SWG is the quests dont feel like im doing a star wars quest. Just a whole lot of running around the continent to kill a few people and looking for data pads. I dont know what happens when you get higher level but lower level people need love too. Not enough star wars in star wars galaxies IMO.

The path of the One is made by the many.

You guys should log in! There's about 10 towns full of nobody because they are all abandoned leaving us playing players no chance of putting down new cities. This is happening so all of us current players (which there are still quite a few) can make new cities.
