I just can't get my FPS consistently above 15, as soon as anything happens *pop* it gets close to un-playable. My network speed is also always around 240ms. It's a shame, because I'm enjoying it when it does run smoothly and also a shame because my PC should be able to handle it. I don't expect to have to run a game on the lowest setting with a X2, 2gb RAM and a 7900GTX. The ONLY thing I can think of is that it is running Vista, which I only put on because I got it free and wanted to have a poke around. LOTRO looks stunning on my machine, but just didn't have those huge wide open landscapes that I wanted, EQ2 just doesn't fit with me for some reason, the zoning I've never liked and the 2 handed swords have always looked doggy in battle. (You don't swing a sword across and high, people duck. You cut straight down, or down and across.) It's a little thing I know but Vanguard has great warrior animations. 10-15fps just doesn't cut it as a tank. (EDIT - If anyone has any performance tips I'd be happy to hear them, I know my way around a machine but I take advice well. The machine runs fine but something is wrong somewhere with Vanguard).

PLAY VANGUARD!

You should be getting better fps than that. Either your settings are too high or you have a driver compatibility issue or something is wrong with your rig.

I play on an AMD 3500, 3gb ram, 6600 nvid and get 20-30 fps. You should be able to get 30-50 fps with settings on balance..20-30 on a higher setting....and those are conservative numbers.

It's probaby the Vista.

Easy tiger I'm not flaming. ;)

If I get above 15fps it's because I've gone below balanced settings. I'm going to restore XP and give that a try, I only installed Vista because a) it was free and b) I wanted to see if I could break it. It seems some people have luck going back to XP so I'll post anything I find out.

Im with you on that one my friend. I have a home made 2000 dollar system and I cant get it above 15 FPS.  Tech support over at Vangurd states they haven't nailed it down yet but it seems to effect computers differently (even if the computers were the same exact built and model).

But be careful with the naysayers.  Some will point you out and accuse you of lying or tell you your doing something wrong or that there is something wrong with your PC.  When over 50,000 people ARGUE over the same problems, chances are it's not your PC

Sorry about your misfortunes though.  Hopefully, they'll get that issue fixed.

PS: It's not Vista so dont go through all of that trouble to uninstall and reinstall.  I had Windows XP when I first got the game and it gave me the SAME results.

I played VG for about two months, starting right at release, and followed the tech forums very closely regarding performance issues.  What the OP is explaining here has been going on for some since the game was released.  No one can seem to nail down what causes it.  I was one of the fortunately players that had every setting fully maxed and it ran very smooth, some latency when I would enter a large cluster of players, but thats to be expected, happens in most any MMO.

From what I remember, Vista did have more issues than XP though.

Other than some random CTD's I never had performance problems with that game which I think is why some people say its bashing or whatever when someone says it doesnt run well, because for some people it runs perfectly fine.

Very strange beast that VG client can be.

haha....right on

I guess I'm a bit jaded and defensive. I actualy edited my post ...taking out a part about ya possible being a passive aggresive flamer in an attempt to not sound so jaded and defensive.

Good luck in your online adventures and be great if they included the world of Telon....if not..have fun in any game you play.

To be honest, it's understandable, I got stuck in a flame war yesterday over people that really need to move on from the SOE hate and just had to walk away from them.

XP is re-installed and Vanguard is just updating now, we'll see how it goes and I'll post either way.

Enigma i asked this before bro, did you play Vanguard at maxed settings, cause thats some mystery thing you have there to get that bad of fps. (and might you already have responded to it sorry forgot and could find if you did play at max, as that would explain  partial  your low FPS when maxed setting with a game not optimized to take full advantage of such system , if you didn't maxed settings i imagine its truly puzzeling why you get such low FPS.

Be carefull bro don't end up becoming someone who wants to mis-inform others as i know thats not your attention, maybe vista works good on you with what you use it for but stay realistic please as you know just aswell as we all do that Vista is atm lots of troubles in lots of area's and games so don't say its not Vista, but also it doesn't have to be, but you can't at this point with Vista be sure it isn't Vista  http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.vista.games&lang=en&cr=US&r=0f20eb89-e029-476a-90ce-19603d72f547

And well its seems the 88series also keep people busy, http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showforum=19

Again let me be clear i'm not saying it is Vista only, just saying keep possibilty's open that might not always be the games fault, though Vanguard is rough, but hey none's forcing use to play these games

Ah sorry OP to forget to be on TOPIC, may i ask what server you play as i see you EU so i asume you play EU server right? Overall your system should get better FPS, and yes i do hope the XP thing will do that for you. I got a 7950GT/512 which is basicly same card as you have but my fps only drops to 15/28 when in crowded city area's, so its safe to say you should do similair. But then again like i said Vanguard is a rough game and some probs effect others more then some.
